Anyone think though we've broken our membership record, part of the reason we're not getting bigger crowds is to do with the scheduling? Obviously Covid and the like is still impacting things but so far for our home matches we've had:
  • Western Bulldogs on a Wednesday night. This was always going to be underwhelming against what the AFL and the club would've wanted.
  • Essendon on a Friday night. No complaints, 44,503 is a low number though against that opposition.
  • Greater Western Sydney. Saturday night over the first long weekend with no restrictions. I think quite a few people will have gone away at the opportunity.
  • Hawthorn: Good scheduling but 39,425 is very average again.
And coming up, in a clash with a current top 4 team (a combined 12-2 record) we're playing on Mother's Day which will be underwhelming again.

Would've just really enjoyed some big crowds at games while we're the clear best team in the league.
Saints fans never go to the G.

Yeah they never do, feels a little (with a number of factors including scheduling) that neither do our fans this year.
Sunday 1:10 on Mother's day for a top 4 clash is stupid. Seriously stupid. They even changed it to 2 games on Mother's day, why is one of them a big game?

Will be lucky to get 30k.

Exactly this. Got a couple of mates, and myself included, who won't be there this Sunday for what should be a good match!

The other game is Carlton Adelaide which is ok for the Sunday but why not move Brisbane vs West Coast which is currently the Sat. Night and swap our game? What's the point of the rolling fixture if it still isn't being utilised?

I'd love somebody to run our 3rd quarter stats from start of last year to now.

How much we average, how much we out-score the oppo, how far above the league we are, how we rank historically.

I don't know how to do that all without doing it super manually and laboriously.

But our 3rd quarter record is unbelievable. Legacy of Brugo of course ;)

I feel like our 3rd quarters were very good in 2018 too.

Crowds are done across the league, surely everyone is aware of this by now?

I don't think this is necessarily the case long term, people right now are probably wary still, and without heaps of people in the offices in the city, it's a bit harder to motivate yourself to get out to games. I was hoping we'd be able to capitalise on our current success more and get bigger crowds and grow the fanbase.

Membership numbers are up but our supporter-base will only grow through sustained success and competitiveness.

The bigger issue is the ticketing thing IMO

I agree. Would kill off a few thousand neutrals coming to each game.
Yep. 3 of the top 10 players in the league plus Koz will drag neutrals through.

What is the ticketing issue?

I know your membership is now on an app
I think the main ones are that all tickets need to be pre-purchased and can only get digital tickets, which is a pain for the non-tach savvy or for folks wanting to rock up on the day. Last year they also did a weird staggered release of tickets before games, with GA going on sale last (so the cheapest tickets were sold only 2-3 days before a game) and tickets were only released a week early. Not sure if they're still doing that.

I work at a school, students meant to do presentation on a topic of their choice. One kid picked afl, but struggled with what he wanted to write about. Teacher was giving suggestions and one suggestions was what team do you think will win the premiership and why. He said Melbourne, still sounds weird but brings me so much joy hearing it. Also the student is a bomber supporter so it's funny he was born after the bombers last won a final.
