1993 NFL wildcard game. Bills down 35-3 in the 3rd quarter and ended up winning 41-38. Does that qualify?
I dunno mate I don't even really care lol that seems like a huge comeback which again isn't like our game lol. 41-38 looks like a tight finish, ours was 74 points haha

NFL equivalent would be being down 30-20 at the end of the 3rd and winning 60-30

I feel like there were one or two (or more) games of league SOO when Qld won 8 series straight where a game would be 16-10 NSW way at about the hour mark and finished 36-16 to QLD. That Maroons side were excellent in the last 20 minutes to snatch wins off NSW from nowhere

I don't think these are anything like what happened to us lol

It would be like a soccer game being down 3-2 with 70 mins gone and then winning 8-3. I can't think of any sport where it's happened
Test match cricket would have a parallel or two. I’m not saying it’s the example but think of the momentum shifts in a game like Kolkata 2001 for example. We made India follow on, and then they ended up absolutely thrashing us. First test of the 2010/11 Ashes another one (except it ended in a draw)

Either way it's not that special. Just aske Dwayne Russell, he still thinks it was an even game despite the margin and the dogs weren't obliterated in the last 40 minutes.

$2.7 million windfall: Demons sold ‘three years’ worth’ of merchandise

Melbourne sold three years worth of merchandise in the last month with the Demons poised for a “game changing” windfall that will put them in the top bracket of financially secure clubs.

Melbourne sold $2.7 million worth of merchandise alone in the last four weeks with $1.2m of it sold in the days after the grand final alone, which according to CEO Gary Pert was equivalent to three years worth of regular sales.

Melbourne sold 10,000 ‘road to the grand final t-shirts’ and would have made and sold more but they could not source more blue t-shirts and Australia Post warned them not to sell more as they couldn’t guarantee shirts would get to fans before the grand final.

By way of comparison to illustrate the size of the surge of support for Melbourne Pert said Collingwood, who first produced the t-shirts in 2010 when he was CEO, sold 2500 leading up to the drawn grand final then an extra 1500 in the week before the replay. Last year, he said, Richmond sold 3000 of that style of t-shirt.

“We have done three years of merchandise in a month before the grand final. That is without considering family days you would normally have in Melbourne after a grand final,” Pert said.

“Those sort of numbers for a club like Melbourne are just extraordinary.”

The club is also yet to properly launch premiership merchandise and signed memorabilia which is expected to reap millions more. Melbourne plan to hold a family day in Melbourne prior to Christmas when COVID rules permit.

The grand final has inspired many of Melbourne’s high wealth supporters, whom the club has historically had to approach cap in hand asking for help to pay off debt, to contact the club asking if they can help.

These rich benefactors are ready to sign large cheques to commit substantial funds to the proposed development of the club’s new facilities off Punt Road around Gosch’s Paddock and AAMI Park.

The plans for the redevelopment, designed in collaboration with the Melbourne Olympic Park Trust are with the state government awaiting final approval.
Pert said the club had been able to withstand losses in revenue of $8 million over the last two years because of COVID and still make a profit. In the mid-season - prior to lock down and crowds being banned at venues - the club had forecast a $4 million profit this year.

Despite the loss of crowd revenue they were still expecting to break even before the finals but now - after the Demons won the preliminary final and then the premiership - the club expects to make sizeable profit this season.

The sale of the Bentleigh Club recently for $23.7 million has meant the club, which was debt free, now has a future fund investment pool that will generate revenues used to financially secure the club long term as well as supplementing for the lost income from the club’s gaming machines.

Not even the greatest one in the NFL, that goes to 28-3 in the Super Bowl

We’re getting off topic, but for peak NFL “it’s not possible to come back from”, it has to be a Bucs/Colts Monday night game about 15 years ago. Colts were down 21 with like 4 mins left.

I recall a San Antonio Spurs game from the early 2000s where they were down 11 points with 25 seconds to play. Somehow hit 3 x 3 pts and 2 free throws to take it to overtime.

Shocked you didn’t go Miracle at the New Meadowlands

Also, have to agree the Bills comeback against the Oilers is the craziest one. It was before you could go for 2 point conversions, so there was no way around it- they needed 5 TDs, and they were without their future hall of fame QB and RB.

I can't find it but I'm certain there was a premier league game where a team was down like 3-1 and come back to win 6-3 just can't find it

That Liverpool champions league win you referenced is def up there as well. Was before I was following so i only knew it after the fact.

Comebacks probably fall within an elastic version of on topic

But the comeback wasn't that impressive. It was 19 points. It was good but it there's been dozens of GFS with better comebacks.

Eagles came back from more in 18

Our GF was a slight comeback and then a destruction on another level. Nothing above is slightly similar

I agree. I sort of don’t follow some of the logic I’ve read from posters around the place who reckon that if dogs got one more goal they would have broken us or something and we couldn’t have turned it around after that. I reckon we could and would have. The group is clearly resilient plus recent form would give confidence in their capacity to reset and go

I get the panic but it was 19 points. They are referencing soccer games like we were 10 goals down. It was shit but it wasnt a miracle comeback. It was a miracle destruction
