Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
Love that these blokes were satisfied with a flag that dees supporters couldn’t even watch with their family and friends let alone attend, campaigners, 0-4 in home finals the last two seasons, embarrassing.
He also said that he 'wanted to make it work' with Grundy. I think we should take him at his word.Dont support us then
The captain said we will win another flag in 2022 at the premiership celebration day at the G though, even if that wasn't true it was nice of him to say regardless. You should be thankful.

Perhaps there are some sort of behavioural clauses that could be invoked if he has done the wrong thing? It's hard to ignore the fact that if he hadn't been given an unnecessary extension a couple of months ago, replacing Goodwin would be an obvious option under consideration to re-set the culture among the playing group.
Goody didn't want to sell his stuff. He asked the club for an extra 3 year extension and to pay in cash up front but they said no despite another top 4 finish.
Pretty unfair.
Do we blow the place up and start again? I'm not sure what the answer is. One thing for sure is that we don't want to be a Saints, Dogs, Bombers, Dockers stuck in no mans land for years. In an awkward position though where May and Gawn have maybe 2 years left where we can impact, but if the culture is as horrible as it seems from the outside, and Goody is as arrogant as we think he is, then we're already stuck in no mans land.I get that there’s been some pretty robust debate between us on here. In one corner, you’ve got the pessimists who feel that we need a pretty bold shakeup in personnel and game style to contend again. Whereas your more Panglossian types feel we’re not far away: minor tweaks, a little more luck and we’re right in the mix.
However, if our culture is as ****ed as it looks, we’re screwed.

I remember they changed the constitution sometime last year to make this harder but can't remember the particulars.Id expect there to be a board challenge at minimum surely?
AFL put a 3 month payout stipulation on all coaching contracts of clubs who required AFL support during COVID. We didn't get support so I doubt that clause will be on Goodwin's contractSaints sacked Ratten after giving him a new contract last year, worked out alright for them.
I think the whole stability thing is just a crock of s**t, seems we have a toxic echo chamber right now rather than a club holding people accountable. Place absolutely needs a shake up to get out of the rut its currently in.
The consensus I'm seeing from journos is that there are plenty of good people at the club but as a collective we have had too many unnecessary own goals over the past two years that have hurt us.Do we blow the place up and start again? Things are never as bad as what they appear, or never as good at the other end of the scale. There's no point just doing a review to look like we're doing something. Gawn is right in one way, that a review will just show a club and playing group doing what every other playing group is doing. The change has to come from the coaching/playing group. The playing group decided in 21 to not have little digs at each other. To celebrate the small stuff. At the very least they looked unified, together. Probably need Gawn/Viney and the leadership group to put on their big boy pants and be actual leaders again. It just looks like it's been one big party since 21. Which is frustrating as a supporter/member because we've been close enough even with it appearing that way.The consensus I'm seeing from journos is that there are plenty of good people at the club but as a collective we have had too many unnecessary own goals over the past two years that have hurt us.
I don't think we necessarily need to blow things up, but we certainly can't sit on our hands.
I'm all for sacking Goody if it is proven that he has been a part of the cultural problem(which we all think he has been). But again, things are never as bas as what they appear or ever as good. More than happy for a broom to go through the place. The playing group and possibly coaching group need to be held accountable for what's going on. Pert and Roffey need to grow a pair and lay down the law and potentially make some tough decisions. What they are i have no idea, but it can't stay the way it is clearly or we will fall into no mans land very quickly.Saints sacked Ratten after giving him a new contract last year, worked out alright for them.

And yes, the Saints sacked Rattan and got Ross The Boss, but there wasn't a significant change from the year before in performance. At least overall. Time will tell on that one. But is there a Ross Lyon out there waiting in the wings to potentially take on this group and give us that little extra we need for a flag?
Yeah, good call. Can see how that could work. We're not a club who has the kahuna's to do something like that though. I can just see the playing group copping a speech from Pert telling them they are all naughty boys and to stay away from drugs and gambling, and nothing happen to the coach(which is where *potentially the biggest problem lies).People will laugh but I love Bucks , would love to get him in.

Don't mind the Buckley shout. I also reckon Leppitsch looks like he could go again. Was at Richmond during their dynasty and was hand picked by McCrae. When he did his stint in the media his analysis was as good as I've seen.Bucks is still a beast of a man, if you want a role model for a professional footballer look no further, not afraid of telling people what he thinks but happy to defend his players publically too. Would have learnt some valuable lessons from his time at the Pies, would be super motivated. Reckon he'd be perfect for this group.
