The only way we're sacking Goody is if there is overwhelming evidence of drug use or the players turn against him. I can't see the latter happening. Gambling and manipulating games? Highly doubt that's possible with so many staff involved in selection, gameday etc. But the non sub thing against Carlton was dodgy af, let alone picking Tmac to play.

i don't think we sack him this summer but that memorabilia stuff is genuinely concerning to me. You aren't doing stuff like that earning 700k+ a year unless you've got insane habits to pay for.

Yeah it's hard to accept the demands that Oliver sort out his issues if Goodwin's own personal life is a mess. We don't have all the details of course, but the amount of smoke around him is making me pretty uncomfortable.

If Goodwin is on around $700k a year he's basically selling the jumper and polo for less than a months pay after tax, and he'd probably save more of that money by auctioning the items for charity and claiming them. It has financial strife written all over it.

Can't remember the details, and I could be wrong, but didn't Goody get divorced a while back? That would really impact your finances. I know he's on a lot more than most of us, but if you're paying off a mortgage on a $5m dollar house, which you don't own, as well as paying kids' school fees... and all the rest, and then you need to provide for your own future, it all adds up.

Owing money coz he's pissing it all away on the punt is best case scenario. I'm far more worried about the other thing it could be.

Goodwin split from his wife in 2020, wasn't the only coach to do so. Hardwick and I believe Buckley also went through similar splits. But that was the time when all the stuff Bartlett has been flogging allegedly occurred. Seems like his life went off the rails a bit there.

The lawyer is an interesting thing. He definitely got one of the more renown defamation lawyers in the country, but I don't think he's pressed any charges or anything. Probably got her on retainer as a bit of a 'back off' message to Bartlett. Would be very surprised if he took anything to court.

His gambling history is definitely a concern. It got so bad a while back he checked himself into a rehab clinic to deal with it. In the past few years the stories about him having a punt have come up. Don't think someone with that level of addiction would be able to go back and gamble in moderation.

He spoke in interviews only a few years ago that his wife controlled all his finances, basically gave him pocket money because he couldn't be trusted lol.
