The Fremantle Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter German as Assistant Coach.

The appointment of Peter is a further addition of an experienced coach to the football department and Peter will assume responsibilities for the midfield, together with current Assistant Coach Michael Broadbridge, who will assume increased responsibility for the technology operations of the football department and forward scouting operations.

Peter German is a vastly experienced senior coach with the Subiaco Football Club in the WAFL where he has, in his four years at the helm, guided Subiaco to the minor premiership in every year, achieving premiership success in 2004 and 2006, and runners-up in 2003. During his years at Subiaco his winning ratio was 80 percent, and across his coaching career has a winning ratio of 72 percent.

Peter coaching experience includes coach of the Peel Thunder Football Club in 2002, Assistant Coach at West Coast 2000 and 2001, Assistant Coach/Reserves Coach at the Hawthorn Football Club in 1998 and 1999, and Senior Coach of the Burnie Dockers Football Club in the Tasmanian Football League from 1995 -1997 (Runners-up in 1996 and 1997). During his period as coach at Burnie he also played 64 games for the club from 1994 to 1997.

Peter is a Life Member of the North Melbourne Football Club where he played 185 senior games from 1984 to 1994 as well as 55 games in the Under 19s from 1981 to 1984. He was a nomination for the North Melbourne Team of the Century and is an AFL 200 Club Member.

Peter represented Victoria on two occasions in 1991 and Tasmania on three occasions in 1995, 1996 and 1997 when he was captain of the Tasmanian side that took on WA.

In 2006 Peter was the WAFL State Coach.

Peter German was announced today as an assistant coach at Fremantle.

Good move IMO.

Good move alright, wasn't he an assistant during the glory days of West Coast, was it 2000-2001?

It has also been announced that Harvey is going to coach the forwards next year and O'Donnell will handle the backline.

Another good move IMO.

So Broadbridge stays with the middle? Where does Germo fit in?

At a guess I would say he would be working on developing the young blokes in the WAFL and bringing them up to speed faster.

Edit: reading the article . Germo will assume responibility for the midfield while Broadbridge will help out with the technology side.

We must have one of those Video thingo's that the mob up the road have that they work on the blocking at stopages with.

Do you really need another assistant? I know you have Malaxos and O'Donnell who aren't worthy coaches but is there enough room in the box? really?
If German really wanted a AFL "head job" he would have moved back to Melbourne.

We have just come up to the same number of assistants that your mob have. Do they really need all them?

Good move putting him in as midfield coach, some help there was much needed. Who is the acting ruck coach these days? Is it still Simon Eastaugh in a part-time role?

Touche', what he also doesn't know is that Wiley wont be one of them next year!

In reality, Wiley wasnt one of them this year. He was just a skills coach, not an assistant.

Likewise, Ross who is a development coach but has little impact on matchdays like Wiley.

WC only really have 3 assistants; Suma, Micale and Harris. So I think Freo are going overboard.

Also WC dont have their CEO sitting in the box

Correct weight. He helped Judgey set up the run of success West coast are currently enjoying.

You are absolutely kidding yourself, Judge and German have nothing to do with the success of WCE now, and both were responsible for the darkest days at West Coast. Enjoy your fall!

darren harris?

how come i know this but you dont?

I'm suspecting sbd won't be replying to your post pinkus, now that you have humiliated his (?) poor trolling.

West Coast need at least one more assistant to help the coach find the toilets at the ground, and generally lend him a hand.
