I think Carey's got as good a footy brain as anybody. Not head coach material for obvious reasons and would be risky even as an assistant but I wouldn't mind adding him to the fold.

no doubt that he is a champion and should be considered when the time comes...however i think its a bet too soon to make judgment on ratts. i think his contract runs out at the end of the next year (i could be wrong). pressure is on

I'm not trying to be inflammatory. I know the topic is.
Hird is very impressive.
Sometimes you just know when its right and when its wrong.
We play without passion. Tell me the last time you came home from a Carlton match bursting with pride because the players busted a gut. We have a lot of problems mainly predicated on players lack of skills, however, we play differently every week which exposes you to opposition teams changing tack and also to loss of personnel.

I'm also not suggesting sacking Ratten. I would, if CEO, be investigating Hird's availability and attitude to coaching. That is the responsibility of the CEO.
As i said, i believe he's the best and if there is any possibility of him coaching Carlton, we should be all over it.

I was thinking the exact same thing about Hird being a good choice to coach us next season after watching on the couch(would not sack Ratts during season-He is a favourite son and deserves respect), he seems to really know his stuff & as much as i hated him while playing for that mob maybe i did not give him the respect he deserves. Plus it would annoy the hell out of bombers supporters. Like has been stated just seems a natural for the game.

Hmm, i've been saying this the last couple of weeks too.

I have been saying all year that we should only keep ratten at the end of this year if he passes the following tests:

• Beating Essendon, Hawthorn, St.Kilda and Adelaide.
• Beating the likes of Bulldogs and Geelong back-to-back (from victories last year)
• Finishing equal or higher on the ladder
• Winning at least ONE finals game.

He's already failed his first test BUT he was always bound to fail a few of these so im ready to give him the benefit of the doubt. If he fails a majority of these tests above i would seriously consider sacking him at the end of year and hiring the likes of a Hird or even (who i think would better suit our club) Paul Roos.

and as for Hird Malthouse Kouta Hinkley Mathews Braddles SoS Fitzgerald Teague Lappin or anyone else that wants to take over from the albatross around our neck.. that is Ratts...they should line up for an interview in a process.... from an independant panel.
The days of going out and doing it without one should be all over after the Pagan and Ratten debacles.

And yes debacle....

We dont ahve a gameplan still....

And after a massive losing record were going to have at the half way mark.. just appt Riley and Geral Fitzgerald as caretaker coaches and advertise far and wide for a new coach using the proper procedures.

I think you missed the point. The chances of us winning the premiership are slim to none but it's too early to write off our season.
