after thinking about many potential key position forwards that carlton could snare, it became apparent that mitch thorp should be a priority during trade week. yes i know that hawthorn would not let him go easily but they are loaded with key forwards , plus with ackland almost surly to be delisted at years end and a bit of room in the salary cap we should do what we can cause he looks a dead set gun. and if we do get him then we could use our first pick on suban ( he is my cousin and i know how hard he works and how good he will be).
does any one have any idea on other kp forwards we should have a go at

to get thorp we would prob have to use our first pick to get him. def no pre-season draft possibility as we are actually winning games

Pfft no chance of getting Thorpe

Ackland has one year to go on his contract so will be included in next years salary cap regardless of whether we give him the flick.

As for Mitch Thorpe - we are no chance. Rated very highly at Hawthorn. Not sure they need any of our players and we would need to give them at least a top 3 draft chioce.

His 3rd year was always club optional which means it won't be included in the cap when we delist him this year.

Was going to state that, we wouldn't have to pay Ackland anything. Thorp would be worth picking up but as it was stated Hawthorn would want to much for him. Perhaps trying to snare someone like L.Hansen from Kangaroos would be a more realistic choice, he hasn't been given much opportunity, perhaps a change of scenary is just what he needs. Thoughts?

Just read his bio on afl.com and it says "Gifted player who is best suited to a forward role, although isn't out of place in the midfield"

Is he a true chf or like pav use to be just sort of go where we need him. If this is the case we should just go after a true CHF.

We'd have more hope of getting Thorpe then Hansen.. no way would North release one of the only potential young gun KPPs they have.

He is a true CHF when he plays there but has the versatility of Pav.

Thorp looks like a Pav clone when you watch him play. Of course that doesnt mean he'll be as good

Is your cousin better than his old man?

I've seen him play twice and fully agree, he will make it. He must be getting pissed he isn't getting a run. He would be at most other clubs.
He'd be a good option to trade for.

Get Thorp and Dowler, its a embarrassment of riches Hawthorn have. Hawthorn are the only the only team in the AFL that wont be affected when GC and WS get all the picks in the draft.

The reality is that with the number of forward options that the Hawks currently have he is going to find it difficult to break into their forward structure, the Hawks are not as strong down back, they may consider a trade for a defender to strengthen their backline.

Ackland signed a 2 year contract with a performance based option for a 3rd.

Technically, his contract ends this year.

a trade for thornton might be fair. i wouldnt want to lost thornton, but we are desperate for a CHF, and we are starting to get some depth in defence anyway.

For a player of Thorp's junior talent - and potential (yes, I know it's a dirty word).

Thornton + our first round selection (likely to be around Pick #8'ish) would be more likely.
