A proffesional sporting club should be big enough to say we give games on merit, the word coming out is that one of our assistant coaches hates some players so much that they will never get a gig.

The players mentioned are tuck and morton, If that is the case then the assistants as well as the head coach should be shown the door.

There should be no bias in selections at a proffesional sporting organisation.

I included the coach in that because he chooses his assistants.

Is it at all possible that the performances are the players way of saying this is not right?

I hope it doesn't run that deeply, but I'm sure that is the reason why we are putting up such poor performances. Players are being gifted games when they should be back in the 2s (Edwards, Jackson, Browne, Grigg, McGuane, Thursfield, I'm looking at you) while players who are in great form in the 2s don't get a look in (Tuck, Morton, Graham).

This lack of reward for players playing well, and lack of consequence for players not performing well enough, surely has an effect on morale and performance out on the ground and on the track.

If true it's not right and would definitely be a good reason for the players to drop their heads and lose respect for the coaching staff. If you actually look at the way we've played the last month it really does look like the coaching staff (Hardwick inlcuded) have lost the players, the problem is coaches don't usually find them.

I think the other issue would be the piss poor selection policy. Personally i think it has been that bad that if it continues you could call for the coaches head simply because he is not giving the right players the right amount of time in the right positions and it honestly looks like he is in over his head.

The player that sticks out to me the most is Houli. Fair enough he has played some great games this year but gee has put in some absolute stinkers as well. Surely he should have been dropped at some stage this year.

Griggs is another one. Why don't they just play him in the ruck like he was recruited for.

There was a post on PRE from a guy who was up there and apart from rance and newman trying to gee them up, his comments were that from the outset the players lokked as if they didnt want to be there, out on the ground as opposed to cairns.

The heads were down, it has happened at better clubs than ours that cliques form and tear apart the playing spirit.

can i get that post and display it mods?

I think you could add Goo and Post into the mix also , I've regularly seen McGuanne play worst than the games these two were dropped after ? Houli and Grigg wont be dropped, to do so would admission that they aren't up to it and was poor recruitment , like McMahon under Wallace won't happen !

As others have said...there are Dimma's pets (Grigg, Thursty, White, Jacko and numerous others who should be dropped b/c their form is crapola) and those that are not "part of the plan" (Tuck, Post, Morts, Goo, Webberley)

This is what shits me the most as a supporter...players not being dropped when they need to be, or players not getting a game on merit...even worse...playing injured palyers!

If its about development...well stick to the freaking plan!
By playing favourite players we are simply repeating sins of the past where cliques of those in the inner sanctum are formed (these players will always say they really support the coaching staff and love Dimma) and those outside (who deserve a game...and should play but don't - why the hell are they on the bloody list - get rid of them and get some kids who you want to play FFS).

Sauce or GTFO

If true it would have to really make you question if we are on the right track.

I understand not playing Tuck, whether or not I agree with it.

But Morton is defs young enough to be around when we are challenging, as well as being skillful enough. So no reason not to play him.

That's disgraceful if it's true, just because you don't like sombody don't deprive them of the chance to improve this failing team

yep its WC

totally agree that the coaching staff have lost their consistency - when u come out and say things like edwards and jackson are amongst the first picked and will always get a game it makes u wonder....

also as someone mentioned McGuane has played many games worse than what Post and Gourdis got dropped for. Bringing a player in for 1 game then dropping him is NOT DEVELOPMENT. We know McGuane is a spud- we think Gourdis and Post cant play but lets be sure by playing them for 5-6 weeks ina row.

Hardwicks lost the plot

From what I am hearing Tuck is the problem not Wayne Campbell. Other players such as Cotchin have massive respect for Campbell. Its a two way street when it comes to relationships between people. IMHO Tuck should have been let go last year.

If that is true then it is a disgrace. No matter which way it goes, they should both just suck it up and get on with it. We've all had employees/bosses we haven't got along with but you work together professionally FFS.

Yet another reason I am yet again feeling like giving up on the tigers if they can't sort this sort of crap out.

Been saying for months that this man-fetish crap of Campbell and Hardwick's will cost us big time in revenue and respect...anyone who didn't themselves have a big man-fetish for Hardwick could see it coming a long way off.

So far all this coaching staff has proven is that it can break the one thing they inherited which really didn't need any fixing - our midfield - and that they're terrible judges of the game and their own players.

Dean Polo may well play finals for the Saints this year, they'd love to have Schulz giving Reiwoldt a chop-out, Tambling has been acceptable at Adelaide despite his legs obviously not being what they once were, I even wish we'd had Pattison in the ruck yesterday, it's not about these blokes not being capable of contributing enough to a good side, it's that they can't be anything more than the 15th-20th best player and they need a lot of quality around them.

We keep stripping away our 15-20th best players because we insist they're not good enough to play in some magical far-off super team, and replacing them with Farmer's Hislop's, Roberts', Taylor's, Westhoff's, Hicks' etc. - blokes who blind freddy can tell aren't strong chances to ever become top-20 players.

People are very wrong to think we're losing because of not having enough stars or them being too young, we lose because we don't play enough Polo's, Leigh Brown's, Priddis', Scott Selwood's, and Cameron Ling's - because, in their man-fetish, obsessed way, our coaching staff have decided that these types aren't good enough to take you deep into finals.

Our master plan seems to be:

Alienate and antagonise every player 'Cambo' doesn't get all wet over...

Put all the first round draft picks and Foley in the middle...

...?????????????...

...Premierships...

It's no harder than that...is it? :o

Tuck was Richmond's best player last year; most possessions per game, most tackles per game, most handballs. Why would you let your best player go ? Surely you should start with your worst players or am I being a bit old-fashioned.

I would start by getting rid of anyone who has or had anything to do with the Players Association (players union).

Well sack the **** now and bring in cuz. Do they realise Mitch Morton is Mr February in my Richmond calender...He's a big deal.

cambell is not a line coach any more, so would be supprised at that. more the point since the start of the year since lade has taken over the midfield we have gone backwards. q's must asked!!

last year i heard that campbell does not like tuck at all..posted it on here earlier this year in some thread.

"some good points in here, and from what i have heard campbell really isnt a fan of tucky.....which i hope is not the reason tucky is stuck in coburg half the time

they say tucky doesnt follow the game plan, probably just refuses to adhere to dodgey midfield setups "

i posted this on the 20th of may this year.

Can we stop spreading rumours and innuendo. The only way a player will be out of favour is if he doesn't get along with the head coach. Hardwick won't be getting involved with people's agendas. If all the coaches are out of favour with a player the most likely reason would be because of their attitude, thus they should be delisted/traded at the end of the season.

Jackson and Edwards will most likely have the right attitude which is why the are picked each week.

On topic, we don't have enough depth to reward every player on merit. Players like Tuck are out of favour because they are not seen to be our future. Unless he brings in great leadership like Cousins or can fill a major void such as a key position like Miller, I don't think I would want him playing either.

What sort of a statement is that?

So its better to reward crap.
or are acceptable losses ok?

I have said it before ONLY THE MEDIOCRE ACHIEVE THEIR FULL POTENTIAL....

Personally i can leave the future to the soothsayers...clairvoyants and tea leaf readers....

I would like to see the here and now sorted out first...

And for a start i would like to see the strongest side played with players picked on form and merit and work on from there with coaching...

Its about...Winning...

And everything else follows...

...players...coaches...supporters...team morale...sponsors...ratings...gate takings...memberships...club/apparel...logos...dvds...tv...radio...newspapers...young kids becoming new members...mascots...you name it...

Woops...

I meant we have to gift games to guys because we have no one else.
