I can’t see how we get anyone other than Smith and even that will be tough. We don’t have the picks unless we’re offloading players.

There was a rumour floating around a month or two ago that we might trade SDK.

Genuine rumour or wishful thinking?

I've also seen Bulldogs fans today's proposing trades involving Stewart

It was from a Norf twitter nuffy though. A step down from even the least trustworthy of BigFooty rumours.

Plus, it was under the assumption that we were trading up to get Finn O'Sullivan, not to get a better pick for Bailey Smith.

I wouldn't read too much into it.

Simply a year too late.

Going into this year he might have been handy but too much has changed:
  • Guthrie is on the mend with 1 year contract left
  • Danger wants two more
  • Smith is a likely inclusion
  • Holmes/Bowes/Bruhn had breaking out years
  • Stewart has position flex as a midfielder now
  • Clark is a developmental prospect
  • Atkins continues to be Atkins

I agree, I just don't see a role for McCrae. Where would hit fit?

We ran nine blokes through the midfield last Thursday, I’m sure we could find a spot for Macrae. Especially with guys like Tuohy, Duncan, Bews on the way out. He might not take their spots, but magnets will be shuffled.

A lot of people said the same thing about Isaac Smith and that turned out very well

The SDK tradebait was a rumour I saw on BF somewhere, not sure it was overly legit.

It wasn't anything to do with Bulldogs, it was a Norf fan proposing it on Twitter. in regards to us getting a top pick from them..that's the source.
there is none lol

I’d be looking to bring someone in with more genuine pace than Knevitt to play wing. Reckon Knevitt is either an inside mid that has the ability to take a mark around the ground or he just doesn’t make the team. Challenge for him is to step up to AFL level. Atm he looks lost in the seniors.

He was good against Essendon but like most failed against dogs. Was going fine against saints till they moved him to half back which was very poor coaching considering I doubt he's ever played or been trained for that role

Hasn't it been reported that he doesn't want to move away from Melbourne due to family reasons?

While I haven't seen anything confirmed, it sounded a similar situation to Goldstein when we were interested in him but he stayed at North due to being separated from his partner/wife, and wanting to stay within close proximity to his kids
I'm not sure if that's 100% official. It was just a statement someone in the media...
Could be true... could be not

We are in for flags now, not in 3 years time. Macrae is very big, turned 30 only 5 weeks ago, highly respected at the Dogs, has reached very high standards, we complain about our inside mids, it could sweeten the Bailey deal, he is not on a hugely expensive contract and if we get 2 good years out of him of the three (like the fantastic Isaac Smith) in a new stimulating environment that will respect him, that is a win.

So is this in a situation where we give them two first rounders ?

He actually is on a hugely expensive contract, at a club where he is surplus to requirements.

if they are smart (a big if), the dogs should be happy to let him walk for free or pay some of his salary to get a return.
