Yes. That was an AMAZING performance! I'm becoming more attached to the Giants' Netball team after every game.
Let's hope we can say the same about the AFL team in a few weeks

Although many of the pies team have played for the diamonds only Robinson and Layton the rest would struggle to get a game (Thwaites, Brazil, Brandley, ravillion). So it will probably just be the usual diamonds team being picked.

Now I'm no netball afficionado. I haven't watched more than about 10 minutes so far this season, though that's 10 minutes more than the last decade - but I was looking at some stats.
We're sitting top of the table with the most goals and biggest points differential. But our highest goal scorer Jo Harten sits only sixth on the individual goal scoring table.
In fact only Sam Poolman who is equal 2nd for defensive rebounds and equal third for intercepts and Kimberly Green who is 5th for goal assists are the only Giants players in the top five of any of the stat categories on the super netball website.
Seems to me, looking at that, with no real knowledge of the game, that we have a very even team where everyone is pulling their weight.

So Kim Rav who's been a regular starting diamond struggles to get a game. Seriously
Thwaites will be a back up shooter to CBas for as long as CBas can walk. Someine has to be 2nd best.
Brandley is bloody hopeless
Ash Brazzel is an excellent wd, just not elite to push aside all the great wds that have played for Australia .
Based on current form Tegan Phillips will be the Australian GA (and at the moment could well be the league mvp)
Where does that leave Pettitt who is a gun?

So Rav would haven been a first choice mid courter without Robinson doing her knee...
Thwaites is a good shooter but is far from a lock as backup shooter to Bassett and is probably 4th or 5th best shooter the league at best.
Tegan Phillip isn't really relevant given she plays for the vixens. Pettit isn't relevant either but since you mentioned her she would be very unlikely to make any full strength diamond side. For that matter it's unlikely any of the Giants would. Two are English, Green has retired(and now injured), Pettit is good but there is a few ahead of her and Bulley would be down the pecking order after a year out.

The Thwaites reference was in regard to the Diamonds - if she is not the back up shooter for the diamonds who do you beleive would be?

SO If Pettitt doesnt play for the diamonds, who does? Tippett?
Thwaites is the second best Australian shooter but I don't think that will last long. It's only a matter of time before she falls behind Brice in the pecking order. With the quality of the diamonds midcourt/GA having that extra height makes it soo much more difficult for the opposition to defend.
Robinson is a better C than Rav and Green was the diamonds WA. With Green's retirement she might now become first choice although will have a fair bit of competition from Hadley.
No Pettit? How about Medhurst and Bell? Pettit only got another run in the recent tour because a fair few of the top players didn't go. She players more as a mobile shooter and loves to cut along the baseline which doesn't work with the game style while Basset is in the team. Bell and Medhurst role becomes more of a feeder

Interesting choice. Hope she goes ok with it. Just hope she doesn't have any of the players sleep over at her place any time soon
