Gibbs jumper presentation

Carlton is going to present Gibbs and i think our other draftees with their jumpers within the next couple of hours so expect so coverage on this in the papers and on the news.

Plus anyone who wants to see more picture of Gibbs go to www.newsphotos.com.au and search Bryce Gibbs. Some really good pictures.

I'm guessing:

4. Gibbs
7. Anderson
16. Grigg
11. Hampson
20. Benajmin
22. Austin
28. Ackland

Also, do you think any of our current players will change numbers?

It isn't official, just very widely tipped.

I expect him to wear number 4. We will find out this afternoon I suppose...

It is official - Stephen Kernahan contacted Peter Bosustow last week to discuss The Buzz participating in the presentation of the number 4. Apparently GIBBS is more thrilled about the Buzz having worn number 4 than Sticks (although that is understandable having grown up with Sticks around).

...but i've also heard that he is upset that vinnie cattogio hasn't been invited.

Definately official heard him speak on S.E.N about what an hinour it will be to wear number 4. you will see on Carlton website in a couple of hours

Just as an off topic, I found some old pics of Gibbs, Sellar and Austin as 16 year olds celebrating being given AIS/AFL scholarships.

I think we not only picked up one young solid player from SA, but another in Austin.

Very well done Wayne Hughes.

I'm so excited. I think there are going to be many tears of happiness when we win our first game next year....

Gibbs said he had no hesitation accepting one of the most famous jumpers in Carlton's history - a jumper also worn by the likes of Peter Bosustow.

"I can't believe it really, it's such an honor to get it and to get an opportunity to put it on in a game would be awesome."

The 17-year-old admitted to nerves on his first day but said the Blues' senior players and coaching staff soon made him welcome.

And he already has a nickname.

"There were a couple of nicknames flying around - "Herschelle (after the South African batsman) is what I have got at the moment and I like it," Gibbs said

and this brings a tear to my eye...

Just walking in the rooms and seeing guys like (Lance) Whitnall, (Brendan) Fevola and (Nick) Stevens walking around you think, "Whoa, I am really here."

"Then you see all the names of the Carlton greats on the lockers and you think hopefully one day I can get my name up there."

Wholy shtye, I just had shivers go up my spine when I read Gibbs wants his name up on the No.4 locker at Princes Park. All I want to see now is him play in the Navy Blue. Feb cannot come quickly enough!

Awesome. Not only do we have some sensational young players, but it's pretty obvious that they wear their jumper with pride. Can't wait for round 1 V Tiges.
