I have been a big critic of Gibbs since day one. He has consistantly failed to show any signs that he will one day live up to his number one pick status, and Carlton are looking a lot more stupid given how well Joel Selwood, who was taken later in the draft has been playing since day one. One of the most disappointing things about Gibbs has been his presence around the ground. On a number of occassions he has pulled out of contests, and it has often seemed that Gibbs is literally scared of body contact.
Tonight though, I was impressed with one incident in particular. Gibbs went in hard and hit the man harder than I have ever seen him do before. He did a lot in the eyes of a neutral supporter to destroy his 'soft' tag. The shephard which he laid was perhaps the toughest thing I have ever seen him done.
It's just a shame that the guy he hit was Marc Murphy. What a waste of space Gibbs is.
