Gibbs - Why would he leave all this

Don't call Hamill a good player. He was solid at best. Never fulfilled his potential in my opinion.

I love reminding my St Kilda mates that Hamill played in more Grand Finals and finals for Carlton than he ever did at St Kilda.

Gibbs will not leave. Why the heck would he want to go back to Adelaide (aka 1982-ville).

Hamill was awesome for the blues while he was still here. His defensive pressure in the forward line was great and he was a good kick and mark.

I was absolutely gutted when he left us to go to the Aint's but everything that they are now was built upon what Hamill brought with him... before that, they were just a bunch of 2 bit pussies who couldnt buy a game against us.

1-1 swap him for Cotchin, then let the Tiges worry about him heading off to the Crows.
Either that or trade him and Russell for Dangerfield and Tippett. ;-)

Gibbs in a recent interview -

"Yeah, people talk about me going back to Adelaide, but I am loving it here at the moment, and happy playing at the Blues and that's all that matters."

Who knows what he's going to do, he may stay here, he may not.

At the end of the day speculating about it won't amount to anything

Don't kid yourself Johnny - Hammer was a bloody good player at Carlton and the soul of the club at St Kilda. ;)

"Bloody good" is prob a touch generous. During his time at the Blues he was very inconsistant and only really started to come good in his last season in 2000, although he had an absolute shocker against Melb when we needed him most in the finals.

Whilst he was good in the 1999 Prelim he was pathetic in the GF. A game in which he only played in thank to John Elliott's support.

The fact he walked out on the club after being drafted from obscurity at pick 79, tutored by Sticks and handed the #4 guernsey says a lot about the type of bloke he was. Elliott's comments were blown out of proportion. All Big Jack said was that the club would not have a gun held to it's head by players during contract negotiations....something which every President would agree with. Either you are commited to the club or your not. Got his just desserts with a failed and injury prone career at St Kilda.

yep! agree 100%... Karma's a bitch!... well said JU!

Agree with everything else except the GF bit. Our forwards were crucified by appalling delivery that day. How many times that day did our midfield kick the ball way over their heads? It still shits me ten years later.

Christou and Sexton didn't help things either down back!

Reckon we were stiff to have Ratt's early goal denied that would have given us great momentum early on.

If i ever run into David Parkin i will first compliment him on the premierships he coached, but will berate him for his ridiculous decision to put Kouta on McKernan in that GF. A week earlier Kouta had turned on one of the great midfield finals performances of all time, yet Parkin had him stuck in a bloody back pocket on McKernan.....Dennis Pagan must have thought all his Christmases had come at once!
