Has John Giles from GWS resigned yet or not? There was talk that GWS was confident that he would resign but I havent seen any confirmation of it?

I think they'd prefer he re-signed...Will probably wait until the end of the trade week to see if they get Martin.

I heard somewhere (Trade Radio maybe) that he was on peanuts for an AFL player @ GWS. Something like 150-200k.

In that case you could understand why he would want to leave, considering he is more important to the side than Scully and Scully is on $1 million a year.

Considers himself as a 300 thousand dollar player a year which is justifiable with what some of his team mates are earning. Will certainly get picked up if GWS don't offer him a tad more.

I agree. Can see Geelong going after him if they fail to get the Hamish M trade over the line.

He was mentioned on ten news here in Adelaide tonight his preferred options are to either re-sign with GWS or to be traded to the Crows, they reckon a decision will be made by the end of the week.

Makes sense as he is from SA. Perhaps GWS can help facilitate the Tippett trade.

would complete a year long trade saga as he was offered to the Crows last year as part of the Brad Crouch deal but the Crows lobbied GWS to reluctantly give Luke Brown up instead. The Crows main sticking point seems to be will they want to pay him what he wants considering they might not play two giant ruckman in the same side enough to justify it.

Adelaide receive: Giles and pick 12 (from gws)
Swans receive: Tippett
GWS receive: pick 22 (from syd), Jesse white, crows 2nd rd pick (40ish) plus a player yet to be determined from swans (someone better than white but not as good as Parker or Rohan)

All speculative of course and I really have no clue if there are any swans players other than white who would be willing to go to gws, but if the Tippett deal does involve gws I suspect it may look a lot like this.

The i/v with SOS today indicated he has all but left the building.

Looks like signing Phil Scully is costing them now. Oh well.

The general tone of the i/v was they weren't prepared to give him the $300 k he was asking for and SOS had his eyes on Grundy from S.A.

GWS would want no part of that.

Giving up Giles and #12 for a 10-pick downgrade, two average Swans and a pick we wouldn't use...

Of course Giles was on 'peanuts' this year, he was unproven at AFL level.

With the top 3 picks, Grundy will clearly be picked up. Giles is still required as a 1st ruck though, and if SOS and co. want to keep him at GWS they'll work out a deal.

Heard some of the interview as well, if they do let Giles go it would seem as well as drafting Grundy they will also go ahead with picking up ex-Cat Mark Blake for a mature body in the Ruck. If Giles does put a price on his head and the Crows I still believe are a tad reluctant I still expect a Melbourne move could happen

What about Pick 9 and Graham to GWS for Pick 13 and Giles?

Giants improve what is expected to be their last live pick and gain a mature ruckman to support Grundy, Phillips and Downie. Sure Graham's no star, but he would certainly be a better option than a retired Mark Blake.

Why don't the idiots just re-sign him?

I have it on good authority that GWS will in fact be getting Mark ****ing Blake, and they won't re-sign a quality 24 year old ruck for a very, very reasonable amount. Just can't fathom
