Don't think any Crows wear them DTB, apart from Danger when he got 13 first quarter possessions against West Coast with a damaged hand.

OK found it. Apparently it's an unfair advantage.

For a second there I thought it might have been related to Jarrad Waite's finger injury.

I couldn't find anything on the site, how could being "sticky" be a problem? Is it an injury risk thing, if so to whom?

It allows players to use equipment to make up for skills they are lacking (e.g. if you can't hold onto a mark, sticky gloves makes it easier).

To be honest that possibility didn't come to mind simply because players have been using gloves for years for that purpose, so I didn't think the AFL considered it a problem.

The technology has greatly improved in recent years and the difference is staggering. If you have seen the mini show on ESPN about them (Sport Science or something like that).

Gloves are for pansies anyway. If they're banning 6 of the 10, why not just ban them all and be done with it? Tell them if you're not good enough to hold a mark without a glove then don't bother.

Agree.........watching and waiting for players (Cloke) to remove their glove for a goal kick is painful.

Try this article.

They tested 10 types of glove - 6 were rejected, 4 were accepted. The types worn by Cloke & Lynch are on the banned list.

It's about wearing equipment which gives the user an unfair competitive advantage. Having extra sticky gloves makes marking and general ball handling easier than if the user weren't wearing them. Thus, they are now banned.

Because some of the gloves weren't deemed to provide an unfair advantage. Why ban something if there's no reason to do so?

muuuhahaha pies forward line going to struggle to take marks this year?

There will be a mandatory glove check just prior to the opening bounce each quarter. If Cloke uses an illegal glove will his score for the game be negated?

Ive also heard that some athletic supports give an advantage over other types.........................

Why would someone wear something if it doesn't help? And if it helps then its an advantage. But on the other hand it's hardly an unfair advantage as everyone has the opportunity to wear a glove.
