The Crows have never really been excellent at converting goals. Today, Essendon had just one more scoring shot than us, yet we lost by over 5 goals.

Is it just bad luck or do we need to practice goal kicking more?

Simple they had a CHF that kicked goals we didn't.

What has been Sam Newman's mantra for the past decade?

'There are only two facets of the game that haven't improved since I stopped playing. Ruckwork [dubious] and kicking for goal.'

To have elite footballers shanking shots for goal with such regularity is unacceptable.

A player can get severely roasted by all and sundry for pulling out of a contest, yet can get away with regularly blowing gettable shots at goal with no more than a disgruntled moan.

It's a contradiction given both issues are mental rather than physical.

Pratice i would say either cut a session short by 15 to 30 mins or have a extra 15-30 mins once a week.

Even when i coached year 4-5's after training they had to have 5 shots at goal and at least get 3 before they left.

As DT has said it is a part of the game that has not improved and it is the easiest to work on,only takes 2 to work on goal kicking

Last year, if we had kicked as accurately as our opposition in every match we would have won or drawn every game apart from the 3 against west coast. 4 out of our 6 losses in the regular season could have been avoided by kicking as straight as our opposition.
I think that pretty much sums up how crap our kicking is.

Does that stat take into account rushed behinds?

No it does not, however in the two games where rushed behinds had an effect, we still did not manage to kick as accurately as our opponents even when you discount the rushed behinds. Our goalkicking needs a lot of work. The only game in recent memory where it was anything better than decent was the 30.8 Essendon game, which was basically a no pressure situation given how crap they were all night.
