Just wondering thoughts on how many goals we should be expecting from our key forwards. I think these are reasonable expectations. If we could kick 160 goals plus from Pav, Taz and Whiz, with our defence we should have enough wins to put us in the top 5.

Pavlich 70
Tarrant 50
Farmer 50

Furthermore Headland has a career consistent average of 20 goals. And players like Belly, J Carr, Crowley, Mundy and Hase chipping in.

I think the expectations for both Pav and Taz are probably a little high. If Pav can aim for 60 and Taz 30, we just need to have a third tall (Murphy/Campbell/resting ruckman) stepping up and kicking 30 to give us a good return. If Mundy moves up the ground as expected, I wouldn't be surprised to see him kick a reasonable number himself.

Pav to kick at least 50 and the midfield to have a more even spread is whats needed. Your never going to get anywhere being one dimensional. Look at teams like Sydney and West Coast, they are great examples.

Heck, if we got that much outta of those guys we'd be very close to finishing top of the ladder...:thumbsu:

This is only for the home and away season

Matthew Pavlich - 70 goals
Chris Tarrant - 50 goals
Ryan Murphy - 40 goals
Jeff Farmer - 40 goals
Des Headland - 30 goals
Peter Bell - 30 goals
Ryan Crowley - 20 goals
Paul Haselby - 20 goals

Chris Tarrant can easily kick 2-3 goals a game. He is now acclimatised to life in Perth and has had a full season to bond with teammates and get his body injury free and fully fit. Did not really participate in last pre-eason and thus his fitness and skills suffered. My knowledge is that Fremantle have hired a specialist kicking coach to work with Chris all pre-season.

Over the year if each player achieves these goals it's about 13 goals a game (78 points). This score along with bags of 15+ goals from our midfield group and maybe either Luke McPharlin, David Mundy, Michael Johnson and Dean Solomon should see Fremantle kick reasonable scores in games and with a rock solid defence thats disciplined, should see us keep opposition scores very low.

Can't wait for season 2008

Bugger that, PAV could get 160 himself:thumbsu:

Yeah woops, if murphs can regain his 2006 form then the only place I can see Kepler Bradley is as a 2nd ruckman if the club opts to give Warnock a year of development in the WAFL with West Perth.

... if the club opts to give Warnock a year of development in the WAFL with West Perth.

They better not. No buddy of mine is going to spend the year in the WAFL.

Won't happen anyway. No way Kep will take his spot. It's perfect at this stage of Knockers' development for him to come on for 5 or 10 minutes a quarter with a few spells up forward.

He's already too good to leave him languishing in the WAFL.

There's no chance of him spending much time in the WAFL. My ex-buddy Sandilands can't do it all by himself (see season 2007, busted groin) and Warnie is our only back up. I'm sure if Kepler was going to be a superstar ruckman we would have seen it already. Warnock is a pretty talented forward - if he can work on his strength he could be pretty handy resting in a pocket.

I think the only people suggesting Kepler will be a backup ruckman is the people here on Big Footy. I'd rather Gilmore be the 3rd ruckman should they need him. He is a great utility and has this uncanny knack to draw frees from the opposition rucks from the centre bounces and his running and clearance ability really went up a level this season. I'd hope he would only be used in this role for 5 mins a 1/4.

When Fremantle reached the preliminary in 2006, Pavlich played all 25 games with 61 goals.

Farmer Played 22 games with 55 goals, 32 of those goals were in that 9 game winning streak!

Des Headland kicked 20 goals in 20 games

Ryan Murphy played 10 games and kicked 20 goals in a cameo appearence.

Adam Campbell had 8 goals in three games early that year too.

So my opinion... Pav to kick 60 goals in 22 games, Tarrant and farmer kicking 45 goals each and playing 20 games each.

For our forwards to kick these types of numbers being bandied about here our midfield needs to at least break even each week and when we have the ball need to effectively deliver it to them.

Barru does need to play on the wing- one of the best kicks in the side
Which other midfielder can consistently deliver the ball (besides dessie- it appears he's more destined for the forwardline?)

Bomber peake - he's running so fast can't balance to deliver it properly
Byron - kicking still not consistent
Blacky - yes but how fit is he after two consecutive hip ops
Happy - long left foot kick - not sure how accurate it is
Josh - okay
Macca(mite be playing WAFL alot- has his moments)
Haze - if he's over come his injuries is a good deliverer
Belly -yes but he'll have a diminished role in midfield- probably play more forward
Solly - yes
Fossie- yes but will be finding his way
Bomber Johnno - reasonable kick

PAV - beautiful kick and if used at centre bouncedowns - Wiz and Tarantino will be salivating

Tatter Murphy - destined to play wafl - Drummy is a far better proposition for third forward if harvey doesn't use the "height factor" and rest big bird/ nockers in the pocket

You've got your top 8 goal kickers booting 300 for the H+A season.

Geelong's top 8 kicked 290 after finals and that includes some pretty big wins.

Cameron Mooney 67
Steve Johnson 49
Nathan Ablett 34
Matthew Stokes 32
Gary Ablett 30
Paul Chapman 30
Cameron Ling 28
Brad Ottens 21

For you guys I don't think the season rests on goals from key forwards. You can write 60+ down for Pav already (if he spends the majority of time up forward) and while Farmer and Tarrant can improve their output from 07, the way Fremantle are going to improve considerably is to get more goals from the midfield and find another avenue or two to goals, ala Matty Stokes at Geelong.

I'm thinking Schammer will probably kick 30 as a rebounding defender/mid/wing. Not too difficult for the lad.

Hoping for allot more goals from our midfield, Heath Black definitely needs to pull his finger out.

Headland cops allot of unwarranted flak, the guy is still more than serviceable.

I would love to see Palmer chip in with a few but chances are its a bit premature.

Haselby too needs to chip in with goals as well.

Star teams have multiple goal kicking midfielders

My major concern is with the resting ruckman. I think you need 1 ruckman who can move forward ala Ottens, Seaby, Everitt, Lade. Can Sandilands or Warnock go forward I have grave doubts, from what I saw last year there would need to be monumental improvement.

I would be happier having Gilmre or Bradley as the second ruckman as they give you more options unless Sandilands or Warnock can go forward and average 1.5 goals a game.
