Didn't have much else going for him, I doubt he would've even got a game had Bartram been fit. Time for him to move on, yes he performed well in patches, but really he wasn't going to be part of future plans.

http://melbournefc.com.au/Season2007/News/NewsArticle/tabid/7415/Default.aspx?newsId=51055

can u see it yet?? when ever godrey plays games for us in a season we lose more games than we win, he only gets a game when we are struggling when we are up and running he cant get a look in and nor he should

2000: played 2 games, we made the grand final
2001: played 12 games, didnt make the finals
2002: played 10 games, we made the semi finals
2003: played every game, we didnt make the finals
2004: played 14 games, we were knocked out in elimination final
2005: played 12 games, we were knocked out in elimination final
2006: played 16 games, we made the semi finals
2007: played 17 games, we didnt make the finals

ITS NO COINCEIDENCE WHEN DUD PLAYERS GET GAMES WE STRUGGLE TO WIN GAMES, GODFREY PROVES IT

Why bag Godfrey? He played over 100 games for the club. Only about 150 players out of approximate 1250 who have played for Melbourne have played 100 games or more. That puts Godfrey in the top 10% for games played for Melbourne.
Sure Godfrey was not an elite player. However the Melbourne match committee deemed him good enough to wear the red and blue guernsey more than 100 times.
Godfrey for mine was not a dud.
I can reel off the names of dozens of Melbourne players who were duds. 100 game plus players are not duds.
Show some more respect for players who have etched their names into club history. Godfrey's name will be published each year in the club book sent to members under the heading of 100 plus game players. This is an achievement worthy of respect not derision by Melbourne supporters.
Godfrey for mine was not a dud. He got the best out of himself. Can Travis Johnstone say the same after 10 seasons.

I'm not slagging him off. We can all get sentimental and applaude players on 100 games (which is a great achievement for a limited player like Godfrey).

But I'm looking at the bigger picture. If someone as un-talented as him can play 100 games for our club, then clearly we have failed in our ability to recruit a quality side.

Demonfan9.
You raise an excellent point re- recruiting.
I applaud Godfrey's achievement of 100 plus games.
Recruiting is a separate issue which whilst it does not detract in any way from Godfrey's 100 plus games I believe gets to the core of Melbourne's under achievement.
Melbourne has to get smarter and start drafting better so most new recruits go on to become very solid players or much better.
Godfrey was a very solid player. I thought he would get another year or two as a solid depth player though Godfrey was on my private list of about 14 for delisting.I had 2 or 3 others ahead of him for delistment but Bailey thought otherwise and delisted him.
