Just wondering what old style games were your favourite

Mine was Herc's Adventures for PS1 and i think it was on sega saturn
and good old battle toads just because it is impossible to do

I had a NES when I was young tacker. These games spring to my mind, but i'm sure there's a couple more that I owned/played.

Super Mario Bros - could speed run it in around 7 or 8 minutes

Duck Hunt - used to cheat by putting the gun against the TV

Battletoads - couldn't pass the 3rd level with the hover cars

Metal Gear - frustratingly hard and poorly designed

Gradius - this game was awesome

Stealth ATF - another good game, but I could never land the plane.

Excitebike - another awesome game

Mach Bike - was an excellent game, but I hadn't really grasped the concept of changing gears as a kid, so I struggled

Tiger-Heli - Raiden with a helicopter and lots of fun

Bionic Commando - it was really a unique experience, but very difficult at the same time.

Operation Wolf - shit game with no light gun support

Last Ninja 2 (C64)
Bubble Bobble (Arcade/C64)
NARC (Arcade)
Moonstone (Amiga)
Turrican (C64)
Mario 64 (N64)
Speedball 2 (Amiga)
Donkey Kong Country (SNES)
Donkey Kong Country 2 (SNES)
Batman: The Movie (Amiga)
Mario Kart 64 (N64)
Perfect Dark (N64)
Stunt Car Racer (Amiga)
Solaris (Atari 2600)
Wizball (C64)
Conkers Bad Fur Day (N64)
Another World (Amiga)
Defender of the Crown (C64)
Super Cars 2 (Amiga)
James Pond 2: Robocod (Amiga)
The Great Giana Sisters (C64/Amiga)
Super Mario All Stars (SNES) - never had a NES, so had some catching up to do.
Super Wario World (SNES)
Star Wars Episode 1 - Pod Racer (N64)
Test Drive (C64)
Vroom (Amiga)
Need For Speed (PC)
Robocop 3 (Amiga)
Operation Thunderbolt (Amiga)

Except for Conker's Bad Fur Day (played it on an emulator years later), and NARC obviously, I owned all of these (or had copied versions :o), and played all of them a fair bit. NARC I did have on Amiga too, which was an excellent conversion, but nothing beat the experience of playing the Arcade version, with music pumping, and awesome graphics (it was the first 32bit game, a few years prior to Mortal Kombat, also with digitized graphics and voices). Driving the car and shooting rockets while limbs and/or bodies are flying all over the screen was something I wont forget. Too bad the banned PS2/Xbox remake sucked.

Last Ninja 2 is my #1 game in that list, the rest are pretty much in random order.
