Is this game being released for PS2?? I play Tiper Woods Pro Tour 2001 on PS2 and that is an awesome golf game, graphics are pretty good and it's hard to master!! :)

If i would suggest a golf game id make it the latest of the Links series. Its a class ahead of the Tiger Woods series in my opinion.
Th last Links i got was Links 2000 and it is simply brilliant. Its perfect.

Unless you have a super human machine then Tiger Woods will run slow.

Id say go with Links 2001! Or wait till Links 2003 comes out in September/October
 
Are there any Golf games out, not just for the PC, but across all consoles aswell that has a sort of NBA, NFL, NHL or Soccer feel to it.

What i mean is by taking a franchise mode and playing a full year on the tour, maybe as a rookie and you have to qualify to get your card and then you play on the tour and try and get good enough results to qualify for the Masters or other big events. Plus are there golf games out there that has like over 400 players in it. Like NBA has all the real players in the game that actually play in the NBA. I remember old golf games used to have like 10 or 12 Pros and in every tournament that was who you would play...borrrrriiiiiinnnnggg. I want a realistic game where you have all the golfers...different winners and challengers in each tournament etc etc

Any games out there like that?

Not just yet i dont think. In Links you have a career mode where you can play tournament after tournament and have prize money etc.

Plus are there golf games out there that has like over 400 players in it. Like NBA has all the real players in the game that actually play in the NBA. I remember old golf games used to have like 10 or 12 Pros and in every tournament that was who you would play...borrrrriiiiiinnnnggg. Yes. Links. Altho the names are fake....It has a change name function on the game so you can easily change the fake names to real ones. I believe there is over 120 (possibly more) golfers (both male and female) in Links. After a while you get to work out who the good computer golfers are and who the bad ones are. A few golfers are excellent for a few tournaments and then miss the cut in a few in a row, then go back up the top again. Its real good!

Hmmm its not the same though is it....why people dont think of these things is beyond me. Programmers out there spend all there time making these games but completely mess it up. There is still no PGA 2002 golf game, with all real tournaments, real players with real outcomes. Wanna win the Masters beat Tiger on Sunday etc etc...

I will wait until someone gets there act into gear...

Its all to do with Money. It does cost money for these game companies to get their hands on the copyright for these guys names. Thats why there is no game witht he full list of tournament professionals out there.....it would cost $500 to buy the game just so they could make a profit...which is why its easier (and a helluva lot cheaper) for the programmers to put in a name edit function so you can add Jesper Parneviks name without the company having to pay $350,000 for the copyright!!!

It costs the money enough money to get their hands on the copyright for them to recreate teh golf courses like Pinehurst and Pebble Beach.....and id say it would cost a bloody mint for Microsoft or EA Sports to get their hands on a copyright to use the title 'US Masters'.
The problem is each game has different real players. Because EA Sports has the copyright of Tiger Woods name....this means it is very unlikely that Microsoft would be able to get the copyright for his name for Links 2003. Thats another reason why there is no one game with all the players.

But how come the NBA can do it....they have all the players...Shaq, Iverson, Kobe, Jordan etc etc...im sure it cost money, why would golfers cost more money. NBA stars are higher profile than golfers....yet EA Sports, Sega Sports etc get all the names? They also get all the stadiums copyrights too....in a game in LA you dont play in Los Angeles Stadium...you actually play at the Staples Center, the United Center in Chicago, Madison Square Garden in NY. If you can do all this with NBA games i dont see why it cant be done with Golf??

Probably because all of these players, stadiums, guernseys etc. come under the NBA copyright so EA Sports would simply by the NBA copyright.
I dont believe their is a similar golfing body like an NBA or NHL where all the golfers and courses come under.
Usually because the courses for each tournament (excep tthe Masters) changes each and every year, then this would be hard to do, but there is plenty of course packs out there for Links...they only cost $25 as well!! I have about 30 courses for Links and its great. Golf is a individual sport whereas NBA/NHL etc is a team sport which is again why it would be easier to get copyrights for all the NBA/NHL players.

Again...its all to do with money....these game companys have specific budgets they have to stick to and instead of paying a whole ton of money for getting 100 individual golfers copyrights, its easier and cheaper to use fake names and add a change name function. It ends up the same thing and just as fun.

Well it looks like Links seems to only way to go....a pity really that an ultimate golfing game cant be made for money reasons. Will have to check out Links though, does it come on consoles or is it stricly a PC game? My PC probably isnt quick enough to run it.
