Note: Some of these guys aren't actually dead yet
1) Keith Richards
I love the Rolling Stones, but more importantly, I love Keef. But how this man has managed to stay alive after what he's done to himself over the years, while others fall by the wayside is kinda unfair. Especially since he hasn't written a decent song since he got off heroin.
2) John Lennon
OK. Sacred Cow. But in all honesty, John Lennon had been a bitter old man long before Mark David Chapman killed him. I find his post-White Album Beatles work to be a pity. Gone was the lovable joker of the first few years of the Beatles, replaced with a holier-than-thou w***er. If anyone asks me who my favourite Beatle was, I'll always answer McCartney. Lennon turned from being someone who wrote from the heart to someone who wrote from the head, which is never a good idea (see prog rock as an example).
3) Elton John
From 1970-1976 this guy was unbelievable. Some absolutely brilliant albums in there. That the fat man that now parades as Elton John is still making albums is disappointing. More disappointing is that people will remember the tantrums, the outfits, the 'Candle in the Wind' remake - yet perfect albums like Tumbleweed Connection and Madman Across the Water will be forgotten.
