The club obviously knew more of his injuries and wisely didn't give him a new deal. Congrats on a good career.

Feels weird that Talia has gone out like this, played his last game at 28 years old. Unfortunate end to a great career

I always thought that Talia would drop off the cliff quickly. I remember reading his training diary all those years ago detailing how much worse he was than other players after a game. But I didn't think he'd play his last game at 28. But I'm not surprised that our philosophy of playing injured senior players has likely contributed to killing off a career 2 years earlier than expected.

Is there anyway that the Crows will continue to help him with his injury. Like maybe the use of the clubs facilities ....I mean he was a great player for us and he deserves our support.

Imagine what could have been if we didn't play Talia through injury at the end of 2020 to improve our ladder position from 18th to 18th

At least we learned our lesson because we definitely didn't carry injured senior players this year in order to max out our average games played stat and continuity credits.

Im not opposed to the idea of gifting Talia an open spot in our sanfl team as a player mentor to young defenders. Even invite him into the fold as a development coach with the sanfl or even aflw teams.

Club seems not too interested in that though. With Mackay turning down the extension offer you'd think either Talia or Lynch might have been offered that spot to act as a development coach and SANFL leader. Instead we've turned our back on Talia. I think I heard that Lynch was offered a role but it totally ruled out playing, which he turned down. If the club valued Talia's leadership and mentorship skills, they had the opportunity to keep him around. So far they've chosen not to.

What a shitty way to end a career. Talia would be one of the few Crows players I wouldn't have minded seeing play on elsewhere, but it sounds like his foot just wasn't going to improve.

I wonder whether wanting to get back to prove himself uninjured enough for a new contract contributed to the original surgery failing. Playing on the torn meniscus and putting pressure on his preseason then 2 further injuries in a contract year was terrible timing. I wonder whether things would have turned out very differently had he an extra year up his sleeve. It feels like there was an element of desperation in terms of his decision to keep playing and get back ASAP.

One of my favourite players. Just always seemed to make the right decision. When he spoiled he would hit it to defensive positions, when he pushed the ball along the ground it was always to a better defensive position. You see some defenders and they don't think about these things and you cringe as you see them punch a ball to the centre of the goal square. Talia was always pushing the ball to smarter places.

I guess it shows his desire to play out a spoon season. There's no logic to his decision or that of the coaches to let him.

It’s the warrior mentality. Give everything you have, don’t give up, fight to the very end. It’s what you separates the greats from people like you and me. Well, also that other thing called talent. 😄

To an extent the club's helps out players with rehab once they have left the club. Depends a bit on the injury and if they keep playing at a lower level.

In Talia's case his injury might not bother him too much when not playing. Most players tend to want to go out on their own but still see the club specialists.

Sad end to a great career.

Everyone knew he was cooked except Daniel. That being said, I wouldn't of been upset if we kept him on for a year in a mentor/off field role. Perhaps we did offer this but he thought he was worth more.

I still maintain if he doesn't get injured in 2012, we play a grand final.

Talia for the “body of work” but Bock was just awesome in his prime.
One of the few that could go with Nick Reiwoldt and beat him in his prime.

So sad to look back at that those 2005/2006 teams.

Having Bock / Hentschel as CHB/CHF bookends should have given us a lot more years of enjoyment.

From a family member, Bock begged Craig at half time to put him on Buddy instead of Kris Massie in that infamous 2007 final.
Craig obviously declined and the rest is history

Truly was such a strange decision. Ben Hart on Plugger in the early days level mismatch - except back then there wasnt a clear alternative.

I was at that game and was blind. At the end of the game Crows board members came past outside and I was being vocal and sort of gave it to Sanders about Craig and Massie.

I received a tap on the shoulder and it was Nigel Smart, he said you can’t speak to Sanders like that, what’s the problem. Massie on Franklin!!! He asked who I would have played and I said Steven’s, “he’s just an average footballer” I asked why he was in the team then.

Next I suggested Bock, “yeah we could have done that”.

He diffused the situation and we ended up getting photos with him. Was a good guy. But ******* Craig should have been sacked after that game, idiotic dumbest move and that wasn’t hindsight.
