As much as I hate Collingwood I just have to say that today they came out and played a very competitive match with the tools they had. I mean they didn't have a FF or a CHF for that matter and were relying more on the midfielders to open up chances.

If they keep up this competitiveness and get a few players back into the team, they won't win the wooden spoon, that will go to Carlton. :D

Hehe either way I'm happy

Yeah,not bad guys.

What else could u do.
The Magpies also forced stoppages at every opportunity and for three quarters the game resembled rugby rather than Australian Rules but the closeness of the scores kept the big crowd of more than 54,000 on tenterhooks.

Where'd you get that quote from oxx?

About the only way I can see one team forcing stoppages by themselves, is to tackle each other!

From the AFL site I think.

Next weeks game between Collingwood (16th) and West Coast (1st) will not be the flogging everybody will start to suggest it will be. There were many signs today that there was still fight in the magpies this season. Sure they might not have the cattle but there tackling and pressure will make life tough for a number of teams.
Games in the past between these 2 teams have normally been close in Melbourne and I can see the game being fairly close again. I still think West
Coast will win but Im pretty nervous.
Hope its a good game though - High scoring and fast flowing.

yes they were disapointing today...but then again theres always one quarter where they fall asleep an lose the game...and the end result was abit disapointing cos they played well all day an let themselves down by getting lazy...why do they do this? :(

Same if I were to play my 7 year old son in table tennis he might fluke a point or three but at the end of the day no matter how hard he tries he is not the player I am. ;)

yeah right.

You guys played to your coaches game plan for as long as u could.

It just so happens that the game plan was "Frawleyesque" and as such,
always left room for us to get up,which we did.

Malthouse = ?????????

As far as I could read, it said his team was the Demons.

Is David Fanning due to be a regular starter or is he just replacing injuries? I thought he looked pretty good for his 2nd game.

He was hopeless in the ruck and in marking contests but ok around the ground. Yet another project player. He's a rookie promotion along with Ben Davies, one will need to get droppped back to the Rookie list in a month when Buckley returns. I'd retain Fanning and drop Davies.

No contradiction there

No contradiction. You judge a player on potential not current form, and FAnning has more potential IMO.

Fanning can get better with experience, and we need ruckmen more than we need smalls, especially with Fraser and Richards out of action.

Davies hasnt exactly set the world of fire either. Looks like a bit player. Happy to drop him back to the rookie list when teh times comes, and reassess at the end of the year.
