Well, we're down to the final 24 hours, and it is time to wish all of you Down Under the very best for the vote in Zurich. There's been a lot of discussion over the past two years, with a fair bit of passion (and some obvious trolling) on both sides. Arguments have been made on both sides which the other side was never going to be able to budge- that's the nature of this style of debate.

I've really enjpoyed putting in my two cents worth, and the discussion I've had with many on here, especially WorldCupOz2002....but the true love of the game (and that is the key thing here, whatever side you happen to be on) of guys like Checker and Michael. Having had the opportunity to witness USA 94, you guys will be in for a great treat in 12 years time if the votes fall your way.

For the AFL supporters like Munro Mick, the Admiral, Pessimistic and BSE (wonder where he has gone the past six weeks?), the whole business ends tomorrow and if Australia wins, you can keep your eye on all the news as your country prepares for the greatest show on earth.

No predictions from me here- I've got no clue how those 22 men will vote- but we will see tomorrow, and hopefully come together to congratulate the winners- well, not if Qatar wins!

Good luck, everyone

Im getting pretty excited now. I usually looked at this board but never got into the arguments as i never really researched alot about all the bidders untill last night haha.

cmon aussies!! bring it home!:thumbsu:

Great post USALion. Passion drives us all and for me it is a win if it goes to you guys or us. Disaster if Qatar get it. Whilst we have not seen eye to eye on many issues regarding 2022 I have thoroughly enjoyed discussing both of our bids with yourself.

I think some people will be extremely surprised with the way it pans out.My original assessment has not wavered and slowly little clues from various bid teams has been released confirming what I already know.
Have had contact with a number of journo's the last 12 hours and the mood is buoyant

Even on one of the other threads here there are clues to what I mean. The last 3 months have been amazing-some other posters here will know exactly what I mean with the information we have:thumbsu:
At this point I'll be releasing my thoughts a little later elsewhere

The one thing I will say is that only the English and Americans were lobbying last night

Not quite the right thread, but probably as close as I'll find...

For those who don't know/remember me, I posted a bit back when this was a sub board of the main (AFL) board. As I said I would, as soon as it moved, I dropped out of the discussion.

I dropped in to say 2 things..

Firstly, I still don't think Australia should win the bid, both because I think it'll be big loss financially and because it think an even like this should go to a country that can fill all the grounds without needing a large number of bandwagoners.

Should we win however, I will be hoping it's the best ever and supporting it, although in a limited way, because from over exposure to the "It's not Soccer it's Football, and all other sports should beg to be fortunate enough to have us walk all over them" zealots means it'll be along time before I have any interest in the sport again.

To those with whom I had reasoned arguments, and those with who there was respect and agreement to disagree, I wish you good luck and for your sake, have some hope you get what you want.

Yes, I believe you're claiming to be Dan Silkstone?

Know why Ruth Williams left? I met her a couple of times, she was very cute.
