Bring Back Roo Ruckle
It seems that Carey is not injured as Speedy, I think it was said- he was rested after half time- because of the injury he received last week- proof comes:

St Kilda had no fresh injuries, but the Roos received a blow when Mick Martyn left the field with a strained hamstring, almost certainly ruling the veteran out of the round one clash against Port Adelaide.

Martyn injured the same hamstring three times last season.

Shannon Grant left the field after receiving a kick on the shin, and Carey was rested in the final term, after coming back from a hip injury. Both are expected to be okay for next week.

Pity Bout Martyn- hopefully Grant is alright for the next game..(otherwise theres Pratt) who will play fullback? Watt isnt great there.. Baird is for CHB- not fullback- McCartney? Experienced- good- but is he good at FB- and would Pagan play him there anyway- I think Pagan might consider leaving McCartney on the forward line- because McCartney is a strong mark- and proved himself with the goals today.. and Baird will prob take CHB position?

So who will take the FB position while Martyn is injured
:( I reckon the 2 options are McCartney (I see that as an unlikely choice by Pagan- who I reckon will want McCartney to be a forward again) and Crowe- inexperienced I know- but I think he will have to be the one- he will be better for the experience....... we have a match before the rd1 clash dont we? Well play Crowe in that match for a tiny bit more experience before the rd1 clash- and hope for the best I reckon... or put McCartney there.. instead of up forward- as we already have Sav and Carey up forward.. I think the backline could do with some experience- having 2 youngsters in the 2 key positions for the rd1 clash would be smart exactly... a bit risky.. McCartney IMO needs to be down back for that clash- we will be to inexperienced in the key positions otherwise... Archer,King,Blakey (Will he be back for the clash?) are great and have tons of experience- but they arent key position players.. Shannon Motlop will also be alright in the backline- but he also isnt a key position player.. it'll be a hrad choice...........

Give your Opinions?

Go Roos

Yeah- but a roo fan did say they didnt think Carey was injured- but just rested when he went off...

Yeah- the Dish would be an option:D He's obvisouly not gonna get a chance in the ruck in the near future...

Go Roos

I went along to the Kangas show today - took me more than an hour to get there

Unfortuneately guys, I reckon both Mick and the Duck are gone.. Mick pulled up straight away just before half time, and the Duck just didn't look good in the 3rd qtr, it appeared he wasn't moving freely and came straight off. Now, I'm no quack, but initial reaction was 'Oh no' and he came straight off, but hopefully at the end of the game he didn't appear to be limping.

The vision of CAREY:D on TV - for the late news - does not look to flash.:(

Why in the hell was he playing.

Denis, you are the coach - tell him to find a bench and warm it. Or better still take Sally to Moomba or anywhere but a footy field, at least for a couple of weeks.

Duck gone.......WHAT THA???

I feel like I watched the game today in a totaly different dimension to everyone else.

In the first 2 and a half quaters he was running around like a colt.

Thought he came off for a rest.

Speedy,

It was a 'promo' for the late news (don't know which one - I was sort of Channel surfing? ) but it showed - and with voiceover -CAREY:D coming off the ground and looked to be limping.:( :(

Pretty boy Hird and Lloydy are 'resting', so why is CAREY:D playing? Denis!!!!

Roos skipper Wayne Carey will be examined by club doctors today, after he received another knock to the hip he injured a fortnight ago.
Kangaroos coach Denis Pagan believes Carey will be right for the trip to Perth next weekend, when the Roos take on West Coast in the final round of practice matches.

What is going on? Why would you play him if he's done the same injury twice in a row? This injury can't be serious? Just being extra careful.

Karen Lyon, The Age
The Roos are devastated by the injury to the 33-year-old full-back. "I don't think Mick will be right, now," Pagan said. "It is a 21-day injury and I think it is 20 days till the start of the season. It is a big risk to take.

"We said to Mick, 'We are concerned that your body won't stand up' (after) last year and Mick said he wanted to give it a crack. We said, 'If anyone can do it, it is you and we will give you that right'. It's not a surprise to us and I feel for Mick but it's not a surprise."

Poor Mick, :( :( :(

Carey played very well and IMO was best on the ground until 10 mins into the 3rd Qtr he twisted on the forward pocket and instead of shooting for goal he tried to chip it into the goal front. He then put up his hand and looked towards the bench.
He moved with the play to the opposite HFF but was obviously immobilised. The trainer caught up with him and escorted him from the ground.

Totally agree that he was on fire, when he was on the ground. He didn't come off straight away, but it didn't take too long before the runner was out to him to escort him from the ground. Let's hope it is something minor..

What I can't figure out is why St Kilda rested so many players - what do they need a rest from - they have only played 3 Wizard Cup games and at most a couple of intraclub matches.

From a purely selfish point of view.....I can't watch Carey this year if its another 2001.

Holding your breath every time he goes into a pack...

Listening to the morons in the crowd enjoy his quieter games...

And those sort of games becoming more and more frequent...

Not knowing if he's playing as you are walking to the ground...

Watching him walk up to the coaches box before a game breaks my heart...

I hate reading the injury lists and just not knowing the truth...

Watching Carey dominate a game has become a drug that I am addicted to...

I HAVE TO SEE HIM DO IT AGAIN!!!!!

Don't get me wrong I get into it watching the Roos with or without Carey but Carey took it all up just one more notch and I miss it.

I just really want the truth this year...is it a hip and how bad and I really can't believe they would put him on a plane to WA next weekend? Surely, it makes no sense at all. If he broke a nail I would sit him out a practise game...just in case...he hasn't missed the whole pre-season this year. He's had some match conditioning..let the boy rest. Please????!!!!

Yeh it sure has been Roobie. You can count me in on that one.

Unfortunately I think that Carey is a player that has become so used to playing with injury, it must be near impossible when to know to rest him or play him. Remember he was well rested last year and it supposedly had an adverse affect.

I would guess that Pagan let's him call the shots himself on when and if he can play and when he needs to warm the bench during a game.

His competitive spirit is sensational IMO
