Super heads up play from Benny.

Gawn took that and was 100% about to wheel around to lay it on his boot when a chest full of Keays slammed into him. He's 1 step slow there and that balls sailing towards goal.

I think he committed to laying that tackle before it left the umpires hands (he actually let Petracca go free to lay it)!

Exactly right, great anticipation

Or this "handpass" from Oliver that led directly to a goal.

Not a word of this from the Vic media. Or Melbourne supporters.

We cop a decision like that at least twice a season. 20 of them in the 2017 GF. Except the decisions here were actually CORRECT.

Melbourne 9-1 after this game.

And still the saltiest campaigners. **** them.

So Jon Ralph is actually saying despite Spargo being the last person to touch the ball, it should still have been penalised:

" The AFL is expected to concede on Monday Nick Murray should have been penalised for his decision to handball directly to the boundary in the last moments of Adelaide’s epic victory...

...Melbourne’s Charlie Spargo was pressuring Murray and may have slightly deflected the ball but Murray had to make intent to keep the ball in so would still have been penalised."

This just defies logic and reason on so many levels. How do clowns like this get license from their editors to 'print' this sh*t?
If someone was to tackle an opponent over the boundary line, therefore forcing the ball over the boundary line without sufficient intent to keep the ball in play could the tackler be charged with deliberate out of bounds then?

Jeebus - you're really reaching now

I can't believe this is even being debated.

If it was deflected why from multiple other rules did it not deviate? The game cameras showed it go directly towards he was heading with the handball, oob. If he deflected it, why not change angle at all?

And it's true what he said, they were 2 horrible non-calls, but if we were 24 points up it wouldn't have mattered. Crows played awesomely.
Sometimes you get the rub of the green and sometimes you get sh1t, at the game it looked deliberate and was shocked it wasn’t called. In the end it was a terribly umpired game with poor decisions given and many missed.
good luck this year

Rowey also saying Murray was looking to handball it through the points.
Apparently didn’t know the score.
So shove your intent :p

Uh, that would be deliberate.

If a melbourne player hadnt touched it.

He was under pressure which as far as I’m aware you’re allowed to rush under pressure?
Or you mean if he missed the points?
I know the umpire would pay it.
More just people saying his only intent was the boundary.

You can rush it under pressure, but youre trying to deliberately get the ball out of play... So its deliberate OOB

So because Spargo was the last to touch it, it would have been a free to us yeah?

Understand that more just referring to people saying his only intent was the boundary.

I think this conversation has become exhausted, but I will continue.
I don't buy this story, although footballers aren't too bright.
I prefer the version I posited earlier. From the TV view, it looked to me as if Murray wanted to handball through the points, but then worked out that would be a draw and tried for the boundary line, making too much of a close call of it. Brilliant! ;)

However, on looking at the umpire's view footage it seems to me that Murray was poised to fist the ball in Doodee's direction, but Spargo's touch sent the ball down and towards the points. There was a big deflection. End of.

If you aim for rushed behind and it goes OOB then it's deliberate.

Well after watching that game again..... That was very very good. Wasnt a poor player for us all night with the possible exception of a very worrying ROB. Structure wise it was the best lineup of the year, and our pressure was at R1 levels again.

Jones - Not as good as the week before but still did some good things. Hopefully we are starting to see his emergence,

Keays - I can rarely remember a guy who gave this much effort for the team. He was immense again and he finished off his chances.

Thilthorpe - I have made my thoughts known about this kid. Forget the goals, his work in the last quarter was absolutely instrumental in us winning the game. He's exceeding the expectations even I had for him this year

Kelly - Pretty solid if unspectacular, typical Kelly game

Sloane - Slow start again, in fact rarely noticed him in the first half. Needed to lift and did.

Seedsman - I'll be honest I thought he was done as an AFL footballer, and I didnt think he deserved a spot in the side in R1. I was very wrong, this bloke was huge again Saturday. Ran hard, kicked well and tracked back into defence.

Walker - Week off did wonders. Moved better, strong hands and when he took that last mark he was NEVER going to miss. We must learn from what we did with he and Brown.

Mackay - Enough has been said, and i'll only comment on this week. Was good, particularly early.

Brown - Super game I thought, like Walker.... he needed that rest.

Berry - I absolutely love this kid. He busts in every contest, works his backside off and now hes starting to get some reward for all that effort. Brilliant.

McAdam - Scoreboard doesnt look as pretty for him as last week, but the workrate was there.

McHenry - He just keeps getting better. His energy was infectious and now his disposals are cleaner. Bringing more to each game.

Schoenberg - DE was 38%, but even allowing for that I didnt think he was that bad. Hit some nice field passes and looked busy

Murray - Nerves of steel...... but dont ever do that again please. Was pretty solid all through the game

Laird - Played ok, numbers look great until you look at his opposition. Still, he did his bit.

Rowe - Building nicely. Just a very smart footballer, and is starting to cover the ground better. Footy IQ is through the roof.

Fogarty - If he has 10 touches and kicks 2 goals every week I am more than happy with that. Gets 3 votes for punching Lever

Smith - Awesome again, nearly career form.

Sholl - Not quite his early season form, just a touch off by foot and teams are working out he doesnt like the physical stuff. Incredibly harsh, but he has set the bar incredibly high.

Doedee - That is MUCH better. He's a proud guy and wouldn't have been happy with his form..... he responded.

Butts - Looked much more confident having another big, albeit young, KPD next to him. One of his better games IMO. Kept their talls quiet which was my concern

ROB - Very concerning, might be time for rest.

Neil Craig cops some stick but two things he said ring true

1. If you lose or win by less than 2 goals there’s luck involved. I’m glad we were on the right side of that luck for once.

Convenient line of thinking for Neil, given our propensity for losing close games (especially finals) under his watch. We actually did everything right in those finals between 05-09. Just unlucky.
