Being a Lion supporter, that was extremely painful to watch but still can’t deny the good performance the Saints put up. Congratulations, guys. Good luck next week.

Go Lions

Thanks Scandalous, my parents and 2 of my brothers are Lions fans. They found it tough to watch as well - but geez look at where you are!
Brisbane are the most successful club of the modern era, a triple premiership team, they should be dropping down to the bottom for a while to even things out - but no - your team is nearly rebuilt already. You just need to get games under the belts of your kids and you will be right back up there again.

How is that fair?

Yes, to help with the healing process I will also commend the Saints on an awesome and clinical display against my team. The scoreboard was very flattering to the Lions in the end...not sure if the Saints took the foot of the pedal since I could only listen on radio but the boys were done by half time it seems.

Had started listening to Triple M and then the Doschbag Newman said the Lions were gone in the 1st couple of minutes and then changed stations..but he was actually right.

I think you blokes should be most pleased with the efforts of your not so celebrated players...Eg. Thompson, Motagna, Baker, Fisher, Fiora etc. Don't want to talk you up to much, but it is the depth of teams that gives them success.

The Saints lost Harvey early in the second quarter. Gehrig was on and off a bit too with hammy twinges. The midfield rotation was getting thin and by the last quarter, they were out on their feet - several coming off with cramps. Not so much taking the foot off the pedal as holding on to a well earned win without letting the Lions get a sniff.

Seems as if Matthews had a similar thought - he had conceded by 3/4 time and took off Voss, Bradshaw, Black and can't remember the fourth player.
Just giving the kids some match experience after it was unwinnable.

I think Black (ankle) and Bradshaw (groin) were both injured.

Thanks Scandalous and Snuka,

You've made a good point Snuka. A few people have questioned our midfield depth but I think we showed tonight that whilst Hayes and Dal Santo are stars, there are a lot of other players capable of rotating through the middle of the ground. With our usual midfielders like Ball, Harvey and Powell injured we gave Goddard, X Clarke, McQualter, Montagna and Fiora some experience in there rather than just sticking them all forward or back.

Don't be too disheartened with the loss, the Lions are great value. Even though they aren't the dominant force that they were a few years ago the club are bringing through a talented bunch of kids and giving them the opportunity to play with Voss, Power, Brown, Black and the other experienced stars. That should hold your club in great stead in the coming years.

Good win guys. Reminds me of us 3 years ago. You can't buy that team thing where everyone knows each other's game inside out. Comes with time as all Saints fans would know.

Gald I picked Lenny Hayes in my dreamteam too!
