I expect Moore will be given a chance at full back, in the end he is better suited to a flank position, expect shultz to be Full back by June, and Big Jack Riewalt alternating between FF and CHF with Hughes.

Really throwing the kids in the deep end here, Polak is going to have some spudding big jobs in the coming weeks.

Alot will be revealed in how good our kids really are this year. Very exciting.

Is thursfield going to play in the coburg seniors this week?.

Agree with Calcium, would be a bad move to shift Schulz back. We are building a new forward line and they need every opportunity to work together.

Similarly, our defenders need that chance. McGuane, Polak, Moore, Thursfield, they are the future of our defence.

Tigerboyz - Coburg seniors have a bye. Will will play reserves for another week, hopefully get close to a full game in.

What about richo at full back????? Is that as weird as it sounds?

The more game time he gets the better.:thumbsu:

I'm happier seeing Richo in the role he played last week, basically allowed to run where he liked. I want to see Schulz, Hughes and Riewoldt working together in the forward line, learning when and where to lead, how to block for each other etc. With Richo out roaming it allows that to happen. If he's in the 50 it makes it harder because he's never been very good at those things.

Look at it this way:

If we'd cut Darren a year or two ago, someone like Moore or McGuane would have been thrown back there. That happened at another club with a young defender who wasn't ready for it. So far that seems to have stunted his development rather than enhanced it.

Terry has waited until we had suitable replacements before moving players on. He did it with Kellaway in the off-season, he has now done it with Darren because young players have come on and convinced him they can do it.

Hopefully we will see more of this as the season goes on, that's how we will become a better side in the long run.

if you like the wooden spoon, its going to be like hell.. wallace has made a mess of things and this is a step back again.

Krusty can you please give us all here a detailed analysis of how YOU regard this as a step back and HOW how Wallace "messed it up again"

You always bag the Tiges so its time to PUT UP OR SHUT UP. :thumbsd:

What is it that actually makes you think that our senior guys are any good??
Im sure that if the drafts picks were good they would have already been in the side. As it is, the side is mainly made up of the younger players since last year anyway. The 'youth policy is just a smoke screen for inept coaching.

I'm still not convinced there's a better option at full back than gaspar in the short term. I'm very surprised that TW has moved him on so early in the season.
Not wishing to pre-empt anything, but don't be surprised if we have a few blowouts this season similar to last, purely because our young KPP defenders are not equipped to deal with the opposition KPP forwards.
Isn't it a little ironic that at 0-5, Terry realises that the uneducated masses are baying for blood yet again and that this is some way of appeasing them?

I'm wondering whether in fact it was Polak's performance that has prompted this. He is the guy that can replace Darren in terms of playing on the big monster forwards.

A lot of them are in the side. And those that arent are all puching for a spot in the side. And thirdly draft picks dont all come straight into teams, some take time to develop. They are only 17 and 18 when they are drafted. They need 4 or 5 years to reach an AFL maturity in regards to strength and endurance.

Have you seen our list. We have 16 players over 23. Thats not a full squad. Take out Brown, coughlan, knobel, kingsley and hall are all injured. Krakouer, Bowden and possibly Pettifer are not looking like they are up to AFL standard or have been overtaken by the younger kids. So we have basically 8 players over 23 to make up a match day squad.

I'd say Gas' retirement was inevitable going by the dropping of Krak and now Tivers. Many things are changing in a short amount of time, it's enough to make your head spin. TW is in damage control.

the question is, who will wallace make a scape goat now? I think it will be joel bowden or richo. they better not make any errors or they will be out. as for the youth in the side, they can screw as much as they like.

With Tivendale, Krakouer, P Bowden and now Gaspar out of the side, we are definitely wooden spoon favourites. As bad as that sounds, it doesn't annoy me as much as i thought it would.

Realistically we were never going to make the eight this year, and while winning is good, it is much more beneficial for the club long-term to be getting match experience into the kids, who have been playing good football in both the seniors and for coburg.

As an added bonus we get Kruezer;)

The more you type the more it seems like you are not an actual Tigers supporter. Gaspar retiring is a blessing in disguise, sure it might result in more losses this year than normal but the fact that we seem to be moving on and entering a era where the kids are given precedence over experienced players that have gone as far as they can will reap rewards.

It seems TW has sent a few messages out this week, with Tivendale getting dropped, Tuck and Petts named on the pine and you could suggest that Gaspar has been told with Thursfield coming back and kids like McGuane and Moore doing reasonable jobs that Gaspar might not have been in the side for much longer so he decided to move on and let the kids gain valuable game time.

As much as we might dispise the man for his lack of skill he did give everything on match day. It is a classy act to know your time is up instead of just milking your contract and taking games away from kids you step down altogether from the senior side.

As the membership campaign suggest 2007 is Generation Next and it has begun, but be prepared as time and again this side is going to have poor days but hell the future looks better each week.
