Yeah at the moment that looks a poor contract, with any luck he turns it around this year at CHB?
I have a feeling like we are in purgatory! However one way or the other this trade period is going to change the face of this team fairly significantly. I'm pretty nervous and hope the change is for the best.

Thats pretty much his last hope.

I don't get it, he drops like literally the easiest of marks? You'd think a couple of preseasons would help him with that aspect of the game. Not to mention for most of the game I don't even realise he's playing.

Maybe, everything seems worse after a grand final loss. Still plenty to be excited about with the academy kids coming in.
Provided we pick up Mills and Dunkley next year we should be laughing. The midfield is set for years to come and these quality young players we have coming in can fill gaps at half back and half forward. The only worry is KPD but surely we can pick some suitable cover up this trade period and potentially work on a elite KPD for next year?

Good for him. Career delayed by injury, only would have been earning top dollar here for the last 2-3 years. For some players, you've just gotta make hay while the sun shines!
Pun intended?

Great! So hawks backline strengthen with Frawley and ours weaken with loss of Malceski!

Why couldn't we have just retired Shaw and used the money to keep Mal instead? i dont know....it just seems acquiring tippo and buddy has given us a great short term opportunity for another flag (1-2yrs) and that we really needed malceski around to be part of those plans. Maybe i'm over rating him, but no one in our backline has his unique skills. Shaw probably would be closest a few yrs back but now just panics and bombs under pressure.

I just can't see anyone currently on the list able to cover him adequately at this stage.

I'll always be greatful for the greatness he's brought to our club, but **** I really hope someone lays him out next year.

Hope it hurts too.

It won't be a Swans player that does that.
Watch the GF again if you don't believe me.

Frawley is a spud......ahh....chip!

Over paid & over rated with no heart!

Doubters were saying the same thing about Lake when he was leaving the doggies for the hawks.

We all know things can turn however when you go into a better club with a better system and leaders around. Having said that, if anyone was gonna spud it up at a new club, wouldnt surprise me if it was chip frawley. Lake in my opinion was a far more capable footballer even at the dogs.

TBH I never really rated him as a defender, his role was much more about playing the spare man/floater and using his left foot to get us out of Dodge, which he was very good at. I think Gary Rohan will (once his kicking improves) more than cover that role, mainly with his pace, and then with his foot.

Why all the overreactions? We lose a grand final and a solid half back an all of a sudden we're in a bad way? Our list is still incredibly strong with some super talented kids, not to mention the fact we just picked up the best midfielder in the draft with pick 17!! We're ok fellas...the window is well and truly open.

Go Bloods!

Why do I have a bad sinking feeling that Shaw will be ROK version 2 next season. That is not to say we should be matching a $1.5 million offer to Mal, but Shaw is a big worry. Was beyond diabolical the last half of the year and that mirrored ROK's contribution in late 2013. I hope I'm wrong but jeez.

Zac Jones to replace Mal, reason why we drafted him last season.

Compensation band 2 you would assume, end of first round.

Sorry to see him leave you.
One of my favourite and most respected Swans.
I wish him the best, and hope you all keep peace with him. He's a great son of your club and will be back once he retires.

Commiserations.

Must say the board has been very good in regards to mal leaving , no animosity what so ever

As unfortunate as it is he deserves a last contract good luck to him. Two premierships. Swans legend.

Jones and Mal are totally different

Jones is far more Shaw like

Glad we didn't offer that sort of coin for a 30yo.

You see how quick players can drop off ala ROK , Sewell etc and both were bog in the 2012 GF.

Having Mal run around on 500k at 33 is crazy

Out of interest Punts how will you feel when Buddy is running around on $800-1m at 33? ;)

Great career after major setbacks. Right decision for himself and his family. GL

Opens the door for someone hungry.
