Let's see how he goes tonight, try to keep it to commentary only - moments and things he says or does that shows he's biased towards Freo.

He's started a teeny bit already, but I'm not sure if he is or not. Like I said let's see if he keeps unbiased.
 
He payed out Hentschel's run up saying he needs to go back to school, or something along those lines and also had a go at Perrie for having a shot at goal :o
 
Jesus christ, there's nothing wrong with Trent's run up. As long as you go forward and straight then who gives a crap if you creep or stutter or whatever. It has zero effect.

The Adelaide commentry team are no better or worse than the Perth ones when it comes to bias.

Dont get me wrong in that I am a crows man through and through, however Adelaide TV and Radio are just as bad.

Have you ever listened to a feed from KG etc

No one is denying that KG and 5AA are extremely biased but we are talking about local radio station and a national TV broadcast. Huge difference there. National TV commentary should be neutral and I don't mind the radio being biased because they are broadcasting to a certain market. If Gossage was on 6PR doing his broadcast I wouldn't have a problem with it. National TV is another matter though. Thats why Eddie's calls of Collingwood games were an absolute joke. If eh were on Melbourne radio it wouldn't be too much of an issue IMHO.

He may be worse than some, but some of the Adelaide based commentators are not that flash either, ie ex crows players etc.

Why they let ex players and people from their own city comment on their teams is beyond me sometimes. They should all be like Dennis Commeti or of his ilk

Fair point, but I don't live in SA and have never ever listened to a feed from KG etc. That doesn't wash with me.

And all in all, Gossage wasn't that bad tonight. Like I said, there would have had to have been really overt stuff but stuff like Trent's run-up to goal was fine. It was there, and I've seen commentators that everybody likes take issue with similar things when it comes to individual players.

On the Hentschel run up it just shows that he has never watched a game with Adelaide in it before - he has always run up that way and his stats show that it's actually pretty effective. I would expect the commentators for a National telecast to actually do their homework....

Ummm you couldnt be more wrong. His run up is shocking and contributes to his poor conversions. Take a look at the old games of Dunstall or Lockett or more recently Lloyd and Roo and see how you should approach a kick at goal.
 
Dont worry...even people that support WC and Freo hate that commentary team. Never mind the bias...they are just ******** commentators.

Gossage isnt a properly trained caller I dont think. He is a newsreader and sports reporter, he doesnt know how to be the slightest bit unbiased.

He probably doesnt even know what 'bias' means.

I dont know about that .
I have seen Trent slot some diffulcult goals with his run up.

We at Fremantle dislike Gossage. In the derby's his bias towards the eagles is incredible.

I haven't notice his bias towards us. THough, given his unprofessionalism. It probably exists.

The guys over in Melbourne where a suit when commentating. Gossage looks like he's come from a bbq.

As I said, approach means nothing as long as you're going forward and straight. Trent's conversion rate is decent enough. This is not at all a problem area of his game. He's been doing it for at least as long as he's been with the crows - don't you think the coaching staff would have picked up on it and tried to correct it if it was a problem?

Well on one of his "attempts" last night he stuttered straight then stuttered a bit more then headed off to the right and thats exactly where the kick went! Ugly looking run in if ever I saw one. But then Roo's isn't picture perfect either. He used to have quite a skip in his run up but I see that has almost been eliminated, but he turns the ball over and over and over in his hands as he runs in. Most guys who tried this (lesser players) would have their shots going left right and everywhich way but straight. Oh hang on.... Roo's did last night too! :D Clearly everyone has a set routine for goal kicking... Matty Lloyd always picks up the grass and throws it up so check for wind - even at the closed in Dome... so the moral of the story is... as long as they work it doesnt really matter. Last night our boys approaches didn't really work so perhaps they need to have a look at it.

Roo's run up is hardly a text book staff. The little hop and then going out to the right is hardly what you would teach kids on how to line up for goal.

Fact is everyone has a different routine. Roo's work for him and Hentschel's works for him. Sure he has been off the boil lately with everything but over his career he is as accurate kick on goal as Welsh.
 
Gossage claims to be a St Kilda fan but you wouldnt know it listening to him

just be gratefull you dont have to hear him stutter and giggle his way through the sports bulletin every night
 
I thought the whole broadcast from the "dining on South Australians 2 weeks in a row" begining all the way through had a Freo biase about it. But hell I still remember the Collingwood show featuring the Crows in rnd 1.

I still didn't think it was as bad as the special comments from Chris McDermott that we inflict on everyone here. urrrrrgggg.
