A win finally, but you could see GWS over running us for the entire 2nd half. I understand you cant go quick all game but we completely went into our shell.

Why we aren't using Windhagers run and effort through the midfield is astounding.

Lachie Ash BOG by a county mile and we didnt send anyone to him.

But we take the points and try to get up for next week. After watching the VFL there isn't a lot of pressure from below to replace the injuries, but Howard got through.

Best team all game. Two defenders down. Hammer out, Wilkie foot couldnt run, had to defend the lead.
Hard slog on a wet day, running out of gas against a more physically mature team. We hunted well and then clogged the contest when down soldiers
Nobody, especially on here, gave us a chance today and we won.
We get on the board and we deserved to win.

Mostly positive. Controlled 90% of the game. What a beautiful mark by Tauru. That kid could really be something in a year or two.

Pou a worry.
Just remember Pou had a quad knock last week. Likely he was on managed minutes for a reason.

Pretty unconvincing win. But in those conditions it’s difficult to gauge where a team is at.

Bank our first win of the year and move on, hopefully it gives the lads some confidence.

Some strange numbers that don't really pass the memory test:

Ryan - 4 touches
Philippou - 8
Tauru - 6
Sharman - 9

Probably a case of them being around the ball, but not actually getting clean hands on it.

Tauru and Philippou at least had short game time.

First 1.5 quarters - fantastic. Wilson outstanding. Viking - showed a fair bit.

Last 2.5 quarters GWS dominant - ran much harder than us - very fortunate they butchered their opportunities.

Been banging on about this for 3 years - Pou get yourself a sprint coach - no future in the midfield unless he is more dynamic.

Sharman would have had 15+ possessions if he'd not dropped pretty much every mark.

Ryan and Pou are playing injured.

Tauru took mark of the week and kicked a goal when thrown forward, his game was fine.

We won and played patches of great footy.

2 weeks ago they smacked the hawks there.

I’ll take the 4 points and run thank you very much.

Darcy Wilson up and running makes us a different team he was elite early.

I really like Tauru up forward also.

Hammer out with a hammy it’s your spot to own now Dougal

Not saying any of them played badly, just that the numbers don't really match up with the presence perception.

Probably more a case of unclean passages of play despite proximity to the action.

Sharman at least contributed with some nice assists.

Sharman and Owens provide next to nothing in terms of leads, contested marking (UNCONTESTED FOR SHARMAN) or goal threat. Arguably the worst 1-2 forward combo in the league.

We nearly shat the bed .... but we didnt

Poor 2nd half ... we really struggled to contain their handball run & gun and we were also down Hammer with Wilkie cramping up .... that said we had a very good 1st half and it will be great learning experience for our younger guys

Now back to Marvel

We won. Have to be happy. Think we have a few battered players after that. Lots of limping. Injuries starting to accumulate.

Lots to like. But plenty to improve upon. Tough conditions that we seem to fade in before the end. A real slog.

Down that rotation early wasn’t ideal. But a shot in the arm for us. Would have been a complete heart breaker to lose it.

But on the road I’ll take it. Not good for my ticker though!

Putrid conditions, GWS has the advantage training on that slop in front of their 1200 supporters and we still beat them.

Team effort was pleasing opposed to indivual brilliance.

Good win in my eyes.

Pou still does next to nothing from my pov but i know i know, he's a champion waiting to break out. Any week now.

Keep Tauru forward.
