I do not think Echuca took to the foot off the gas, I think Tat Lifted in the 2nd Half and in the final quarter, I think if Football had 6 quarters, I think Tat would of got Echuca.

Theres been times over the years i wish, there was 10 more minutes of game time....

Didn't give Mansfield any credit for the win in the press, said the best side didn't win and the umpires were atrocious towards Benalla, classic case of sour grapes I'd say.

I agree...I understand the emotional side of it but blaming umpires etc is tiresome. The facts are that they need to look at their image because at the moment it is tarnished. If the team was as good as he thought then they would've won..no one to blame except themselves.

I have been waiting for someone a lot more impartial than me to give Shepp Bears their dues for their excellent effort on Saturday, but I will give my thoughts, which you are welcome to take with a grain of salt.
I thought the coaching and tactics that were put into combatting Ky were brilliant, but even more so the discipline of the team to put the plan into action.
They dominated the clearances and caused numerous turnovers or missed targets through pressure acts.
When they had possession they refused to kick down the line to Lochie Smith. Play maker Liam Barrett had to watch the game from the far back pocket as his opponent stayed clear of play. The Bears continually chipped, chipped, chipped, keeping possession.
I believe this possession style did work to a significant degree into setting up a possible win, but against such a brilliant defence helped Ky steady and set up their defence without quick ball movement to worry about.
Eventually when Ky did manage to break free, they had too many different options with forwards and Brad Mangan took the game by the throat in the forward line late in the second half.
Ky are unbelievable in still forcing wins when a teams think they have sorted them out. Have the Bears shown their hand?
Overall I t was a most entertaining game and made me nervous for the first time in a long time. Well done both teams.

Great write up Bootz....I mentioned the other day that if you kick down the line its happy days for Kyabram. possession football and ball use on the 45 can shift their defence and produce holes for runners from behind to charge through. The disadvantage for Ky is that it could be a bit late to fix that up if it is actually any sort of achilles heel. The advantage for Shepparton and thus Echuca is that they have been working on their plans all year in the knowledge that they may make the 'big dance'. If Kyabram get beaten it will only be once. Not sure Echuca can do it this week but I'm sure Walker and Maddox would've noted some of the above observations and if they haven't I hope they stumble across your write up

Great young talent from terrific family. will be drafted. Some good talent coming out of Echuca/Moama in recent years. Wines, Oliver, Schultz(VFL Gun) and now Brodie.
Can echuca clame oliver ringo?!?

I see Brodie Kemp made one of the sides in the Futures U17 match on GF day at the G.

Congrats

I believe Lachie Ash has been selected also. Interesting dilemma as if Bears can make the seniors final I would imagine they'd be hoping he'd be available (assuming Bushies don't make the GF of course).

Jye Chalcraft was probably in the mix for a call up prior to his knee injury too. Some good young talent around.

Where does Linc Wellington rate amongst the best players in the last 10 years or so... Still playing great footy for his age. Remarkable really and great bloke to go with it
Would have to be right up there. Over 250 games including premiership, multi year Interleague rep, co-coach, multiple club b&f etc. Approaching 40, his ability to take on and beat basically any opponent on a weekly basis must provide plenty of motivation to his teammates. Wonder if he'll go around again next year?

I think he realised as the 2015 season progressed and he improved his fitness!

I watched him play a final for mooroopna seniors in 2014 against ky at tat mooroopna being big underdogs.
They also had Nathan Drummond and Jy Simpkin playing. But it was Oliver who would’ve been around 16/17 at time who nearly dragged them over the line he was brilliant that day.

Oliver tried to get into the bushrangers system around the schoolboys age 14/15 and tried every year after. He moved schools , where he lived and his parents even sold their home and bought in mooroopna. It wasn't until his final year that he was granted the opportunity to play with the bushrangers system rather than the pioneers system.
Wasn't a single year and was well before tac age.
