Feel for Sam Ezard who was the unlucky one to miss out, it's something none of us can pretend to know how it feels but hopefully he walks away proud of what he achieved this season and what he contributed to the Cannons throughout the year.

Yeah was actually suffering from a pinched nerve upper back area in the prelim. Went through a fitness test on Wednesday night which he passed, yet was still ommitted.

Off to state screening though so not all over for the young fella.

Thought the Calder boys were v good but it was Michell and Temel the difference. I thought the Dandy midfield probably worked a touch better and was certainly quicker over the ground.

Casboult was very good in the ruck - his palming was outstanding. Between he and Bastinac they got Dandy back in the game in the second qtr (i think it was). I've not been as big a wrap for Bastinac as others but I saw some outstanding things yesterday. His clearance work was very good and his lateral is great. Thought Kerr played the best game I had seen him play, Parker looks the goods and Pitt was very good. Treloar kept showing why he is one of the hottest young prospects. Thought Mitchell showed some signs as well. Good by foot and his body work was ok.

Calder were just better all over though and had them covered in the air. Probably didnt get much acknowledgement but thought the kid Watson at FB was very good with his release and set up. More prominent was Melksham though - he was BOG for me. Set them up very well at clearance work and kicked very smartly. Thought Libba did some good things but a bit in and out, Fewster was good but more around the ground than in the ruck and Carlile did enough to keep him rated highly. Only see Thompson a couple of times before yesterday but that was also impressive. He is very clever and very strong for his size. Interesting to see what happens with him but yesterday was good and finished up having a very good year.

Great game though wasnt it. 5 out of the last 8, must have a good coaching staff down there!

Might have just been me but I thought Libba or Wallis were B.O.G :D

Is next years draft supposedly alot stronger than this years?

Libba could have had a claim t the bog medal. wallis not so much had a poor first half but worked into the game in the second half which is a credit to him

Melksham + Watson + Hicks' freak goal= PeGz RePreZent.

Any predictions about what sort of pick Watson will go for next year, if he's drafted?

Just watched the tape, obvious commentators know f' all about TAC.

I think they thought it was the libba, wallis & thompson GF verses scully is out.

If you still have it go to the 22.35 minute of the first quarter where they mistook 31 for the Stingrays for 31 for Cannons, then apologised to his family if it wasn't him.

There was a reasonable jumper clash from behind, but if they knew their stuff they would have realised that no 31 from Cannons would never be in a ruck contest at 182cm, and he wasn't even on the ground.

Apology accepted Fox Sports! :confused::D

Yeah got that, perhaps i'm being a bit harsh, i think it was actually great that fox televised it. Gave a lot of people the chance to watch the young guns go around.

Great game of footy, no tagging, no flooding just a good shootout and let the best team win.

Perhaps if the commentators just commentated on the game itself and highlighted some of the better efforts by the boys and not on the father/sons so much.

I haven't watched the broadcast yet but just went to that section of the recording, what a stuff up!!! Matthew Campbell must have rambled on for about 30 seconds about #31. And the other thing is that Calder's #31 Jarrod Potter only played three games for Calder this year. Dare I say some of the Bigfooty crew could have called the game better!!!

Looks like a broadcast done on the cheap. Fox Sports clearly didn't want to be there. They've used a generic AFL intro, and I noticed over the last five minutes of the coverage they keep flashing up on screen that Before the Bounce will be on soon, then as soon as the siren went they pissed off. Not even showing the presentation. Ordinary.

When I was told he was mentioned, I thought, WT, he isn't even listed on the record, yeah he was on the team list for the year but as you say he only played 3 games (due to bad luck with injuries) and is at 182 so no where near a ruckman.

At least they qualified their comments with apologies to the Potter family which have been accepted LOL

I agree that it was great to have it televised though, I have heard so many people complain about the VFL not being live so we were lucky, maybe footyman you can offer your services to them or someone else with knowledge to them next year.

Not many people would have picked up that mistake but #31's gran did

I taped it on IQ forgot to add the 20 minutes and the last 3 minutes of the game was lost.:thumbsd: Hopefully the DVD the clubs get will have the extra footage, especially of the the players that didn't play joining in on the celebrations.

True. It was poor that the VFL wasn't shown.

I think Fox Sports are paid to show the TAC Cup GF (or at least have production costs covered). SEN broadcast the TAC GF too, but took two or three minutes of ads mid quarter during the actual game!!!

It is being replayed throughout the week, but I doubt you'll see any of the extra footage on that. Shame cos the presentation is often a great part of it.

Watched Grand Final whilst on holidays in Noosa. Great to see game live but the commentary was second rate. Rather than having a “relaxed chat” during the game, why not get some people involved who actually know and respect TAC footy.

Many were surprised that Cannons made the Grand Final and then won the Premiership. I think in twelve years time, when we reflect on the AFL careers of a number of the Cannon’s boys from Friday night, this will be rated one of the great TAC teams.

Footyman, I am what you have described as a Bigfooty “lurker”. I am heavily involved with a local junior club. My interest in TAC is solely based on watching the progress of boys from our club. Very myopic, but that’s life. Ninety percent of posts on Bigfooty have this “myopic” perspective. Footyman, keep up your good work. You drive Bigfooty. Your posts are informed, insightful and broadly based.

Finally, Footyman keep up with your talent identification. Luke Mitchell is one of your success stories. You nominated him at under 15 level and supported him over the last few years. He has proven you right! Remember, this year AFL Victoria did not even rate him in the best 80 metro TAC players - didn’t even crack a practice game. Mitchell’s team orientated contribution and support of Temal during the finals, has meant he was one of the most influential TAC players of 2009.

Congratulations to Calder, a well deserved win.

Probably a game won through the key forwards, Dandenong just couldn't contain Temel and Mitchell and both of them kicked straight. Jacob Thompson was the main beneficiary of that, as the worry about Temel and Mitchell openned up space.

A superb performance by Jake Melksham - what a creative player he can be. Excellent vision and beautiful skills. I had him on the fringe on the first round coming in, after that he's probably got the exposure to be a lock in the first round.

Temel firms as a draftable player, he'll definitely find himself on a list next year. An interesting one is Jake Carlisle. I can't see him slipping further than mid second round, but he hasn't quite firmed as the certain first rounder he promised to be after that amazing perfoemance against the Pioneers. Of the others, I really hope Tom Lucin find his way onto a rookie list, I can't help but feel there's something to work with there.

For Dandenong, I was really pleased with the way Bastinac played. The coaches are a massive rap for him as an inside type, I don't think he showed that ability at the Champs, but he definitely showed here.

Would've loved to have seen what Scully could've done, but we can't have it all.

He's a beautiful kick, and good decision-maker when disposing of the ball from kick-outs, or after marks. However, I'm not sure he has a lot more dimensions to his game. Even though I've read on here people raving about him, I'd only take him as a rookie.

yeah i was impressed with watson aswell, but im not sure about how accountable he is, didnt see him spoil or beat his opponent very often
