ive paid a non ref $100 deposit on a chartered flight leaving fri morn back sun night. total cost $1250. if we don't get in the GF I just lose the $100... not sure how I'm gonna go about acquiring tix though.

Apparently there are about 15 seats left with the price to go up by $100 following the last home and away game of the season. They've had a look over the plane (Fokker 100 for those aviation enthusiasts) and discussed important technical issues such as exactly how many cartons of beer we can fit on the plane.

Gonna be a party plane heading over and, if the cup comes west with us, a debaucherous ride home!

If any of the BigFooty family are interested, PM me for contact details.

Can you imagine if it's a derby GF - the flight home will either be the greatest or worst trip of your life :p

Hey Bud,
Being lucky enough to attend the last few GF, if your not a member, find somebody who is an AFL member, by far your best go otherwise as others have said you will pay an arm and a leg for the packages which are bullshit.

Truth be told last year and the year before I found plenty of people selling tickets at the ground from about 8am. Prices change but about an average of $350 per ticket. Risky I know, but between bigfooty, the gf perade and game day there are plenty of tickets around.

Good luck.

With all the Grand Final eve partying to partake in, who gets to the ground at 8am?

Lots of people, including MCC members, they start rocking up about 6am, ticket scalper/buyers.

On GF day you can hire a car park and have your own party before and after. I know a guy who puts on a massive party stating at 10am, including a BBQ, booze, TV screens, and even live performance by the local dudes at the pub down the the road. It's crazy and everyone dies it. I can't really explain it, it's just something you need to see for yourself.

I went to '06 and '07 GF so I know how to Grand Final ok ;)

You are getting your years wrong. 05 was the line up. I got a Carlton supporting mate to come to Subi oval about at half time to get a spot up the front while we were flogging the crows. Was actually a fun night, except for a little rain. Having the crows team bus drive past us all on their way out of the ground about an hour after the final siren was great. They were none too pleased with our carry on ;)

06 was no lining up. Just a phone line first in best dressed, but note holders was open first for an hour or so until normal members could get in. I remember my sneaky trick of ringing up with 10 mins left of note holders only and just repeating pressing number options in an endless loop until normal members time opened up. No engaged tones for me :)

Personally preferred those methods. If you really wanted a ticket you would get one. Now with a ballot people will still apply even with no intention of going... only intention to on sell at a profit.

05 and 06 both had lines at Subi. I was at the Crows game, 'twas a great day. 05 I don't think we were actually noteholders at that stage but 06 definitely was and I walked up past the line of normal members, got tickets in about 5 minutes and left. ANyways the point was/is how is it possible to get such crap seats when theoretically we're getting in before any other members - surely we should be able to secure seats on the wing for a GF??

Wallsy will be seething if we beat Freo in a close one:

"If only Lyon had given Fyfe a run in the ruck..."

he will mutter under his breath before presenting it to Hurn and Simpson.

Hands over the cup "well it looks like evil has prevailed over good once again"

He's only presenting the Jock McHale medal to the winning coach.

What happened to a past club great presenting it - different person depends who wins.

Walls is actually presenting the Jock McHale medal to the winning coach, they haven't announced yet who will present the cup, or if they have, I missed it. McLoud to present the Norm Smith.

Sorry to intrude on your board, but given that your boys will start very warm favourites next Saturday, plus Freo have to be quite a good show to beat the Hawks, how do you feel about having to come to the MCG for the Grand Final?

For what it is worth, when two teams from the one State are playing in a GF, in my opinion the game should be played in that State. Sure it will hurt the AFL financially but they make such a huge amount from the TV Rights, they can afford to wear it.

If it is an Eagles v Freo GF, then tickets should be split according to memberships, no hand outs to corporates/coteries/other hangers on looking to make big money out of the game and allow the game to be played where the true supporters reside.

I would imagine that would be huge for WA. Would stop the Airlines, the real winners from the current arrangements, from making not just a packet but packets and help locals to get a piece of the action.

Will never ever happen but it is wrong in my book. Would be interested to hear your thoughts.

^^ Load of bleeding heart shit. The AFL are a business, they are not going to give up on making money and have everyone join hands and sing kumbaya just because the GF is Eagles vs Freo. Besides that, Subi is a disgrace, it's not fit to host an AFL Grand Final, beaming that around the world would be just an embarassment. The Grand Final belongs at the MCG, the hallowed turf where we have already won 3 flags and hopefully one day the chance for a 4th.

I can't agree with that. The game should be for the benefit of the people, not the benefit of the AFL as a business. Subi may not be up to scratch in your view, but I'm betting there are are going to be a lot of very disappointed fans from both clubs, who will not be able to make the trip for all sorts of reasons, who would prefer to see the game at the "disgrace" of a ground, Subi.

As a Victorian, I love the fact that the Grand Final is held at the MCG in Melbourne. I've managed to get to 18 Grand Finals, mainly because I am an AFL member, including 3 of the 5 GF's that the Eagles have been in. But can anyone actually say that I should be getting to a GF ahead of one of you as Eagles supporters, just because I happen to live where the GF is staged?

I'm not suggesting that the GF should have been held anywhere else on each of those occasions, because none of those GF's were between two clubs from the one State (outside of Victoria).

But this may well be a unique occasion and why shouldn't WA supporters of the Eagles and Freo be provided with the best opportunity to see it? You will soon have a new stadium in Perth, that hopefully will have a greater capacity and better facilities to provide the opportunity for such a unique event.

Anyway just my opinion.

I'm in favour of Grand Final venues being rotated, maybe every 3rd year outside of the MCG. But it has to be decided years ahead ala the Superbowl, not during the last week where it will screw thousands of fans who can't make any sort of GF plans until the prelims have been played.
