Exactly right.

The idea is that he will be able to help the incoming captain.

Hamill's leadership qualities won't suddenly disappear because he doesn't toss the coin at the start of the game.

If he can help out the likes of Hayes, Riewoldt, Ball and whoever else captains the side in the years to come then it can only be a good thing.

It's exactly that kind of attitude why many of us don't bother replying anymore. If we happen to agree with what's going on at the club then we are dismissed as not being able to think for ourselves.

I can think for myself and I fully support the direction our football club is taking. If you don't agree, that's your opinion. I probably wouldn't go on about it like some people on bigfooty but if making so many comments about an opposing football club is what they get off on then so be it. I'd rather be discussing St Kilda than West Coast, Collingwood or Port Adelaide.

Totally agree, sainter.
I know people who are all too willing to rip thier club to shreads when they perform badly, then no-one is more committed than them when the team's on a roll.
"Fair weather supporters" take note. Supporting your club means supporting them all the time, not just when they win.
I may not always agree with the decisions my club makes, but I will support them completely because thats my club.
I don't care if non-St Kilda supporters don't like GT, he's our coach, not yours, so your opinion of him dosen't count for much anyway.
There are coaches I don't like, but they aren't from my club, so I don't really need to say anything about them 'cause I don't have to deal with them.
