Exactly right.
The idea is that he will be able to help the incoming captain.
Hamill's leadership qualities won't suddenly disappear because he doesn't toss the coin at the start of the game.
If he can help out the likes of Hayes, Riewoldt, Ball and whoever else captains the side in the years to come then it can only be a good thing.

It never ceases to amaze me the lemming like loyalty that St Kilda fans have for their club, no matter how stupid the ideas or appointments that the club makes.
It's exactly that kind of attitude why many of us don't bother replying anymore. If we happen to agree with what's going on at the club then we are dismissed as not being able to think for ourselves.
I can think for myself and I fully support the direction our football club is taking. If you don't agree, that's your opinion. I probably wouldn't go on about it like some people on bigfooty but if making so many comments about an opposing football club is what they get off on then so be it. I'd rather be discussing St Kilda than West Coast, Collingwood or Port Adelaide.
