The bias by the umpires against Fevola now is beyond rediculous. What does he have to do to get a free kick when he is obviously being held/impeded/scragged by Gibson, and other NM defenders?

But yeah, Fevola lost us the match, quite clearly. I mean, Judd, Stevens, Gibbs, Murphy, Scotland, Waite, Cloke, Hampson, Simpson were all just superstars today, weren't they?

North got out to a 26 point lead after that 50 and Vosso ended up having it in for Fev the whole game which is my point there was at least 3 or 4 free kicks for him but they weren't paid because of hes abuse. It clearly wasn't all Fev's fault that we lost there today, alot of players were down on their usual form.

Totally agree Fev brings it on himself, but the umpires feel they are bigger then the game and need to just focus on their job. Which is simply to enforce the rules, regardless of the player in question.

Fev is Fev. He'll make you the scream in joy or he'll make you tell your missus to f**k off (sorry babe), thats just who he is.. But to say he lost us the game (and our finals chance in the OP) is so far an overkill it's not funny. Let's just focus on area's to improve as oppossed to pointing fingers.

I have bagged Fev in the past for his attitude and was not a fan of him getting a huge deal. However, he is crucified by the umps. If he touches someone, it is a free. He is scragged, dragged, arms chopped, hands in back, you name it and barely gets a cracker from most umps. Down the other end it is a different story.

Take one of the Harding goals, ball is coming in, Harding gets rid of Armfield well before the contest by putting two hands firmly in the middle of his back and pushing Armfield towards goals, he turns, goes for the mark, Saddington makes ground to go the spoil, Hansen grabs Saddo around the shoulder and tugs him off balance. Harding marks and goals.

That is two infringements by two Roos in the one play and they get the reward. They may be soft frees, they may be 50/50s but they paid them in the North forward line the whole game and not down the other end.

Now we would have still lost but geez, did the umps kill off any hope of a run on by the Blues or what?

I think Vozzo's failure to communicate with Fev during the incident was very ordinary. Normally you will hear an umpire telling a player to get back a metre, wait for the play on call etc. But the silence from Vozzo until Fev actually knocked the ball from Harding's hands showed Vozzo up as a poor communicator & you are right in saying that Vozzo was ultimately responsible for the melee. He lost control of the game through his refusal to talk to Fev & then we had the ridiculous situation of Fev being wrestled to the ground & being penalised for retaliating, even though the whole scenario unfolded in view of the umpire.

I only hope for the sake of the game that Vozzo isn't allocated to any of the finals, because he lacks football smarts.

I just saw the replay of the Harvey free kick, and if someone doesn't monitor what this little sheep dog does, then they are kidding themselves. As soon as Fev grabbed him, he threw himself onto the ground, and in Matthew Lloyd style, threw his hands out and looked at the umpire.

With the 100m penalty, who the hell knows what that was for. Very hard to solely blame for that one.

Unfortunately, the way the system is, coming out publicly will not achieve a thing.

However, it would not hurt for the club to put together a DVD of every time Fevola is held, scragged and otherwise infringed against and ask the AFL umpiring department exactly why he isn`t being paid free kicks. Hell, they could put together one just from today`s game.

Having said that, I still say that by carrying on the way he does he is his own worst enemy. Schwartz it was I think today who summed it up best by saying that by doing so he is just guaranteeing more of the same treatment, especially when 50/50 decisions are concerned.

If the situation doesn`t change, he simply needs to learn how to handle things. It will be counter-productive if he doesn`t.
