Although I have his latest, Praire Wind, I keep coming back to Greendale, its a great record with Crazy Horse, probably my favourite with them. I like its story and recurring themes throughout the record and you must read the liner notes to appreciate it as a whole the collection of the songs of the happenings in Greendale, better there is a movie of Greendale. This is a unique album and its so great that Neil is continuing to define himself as one of the enduring rock artists of our time with a huge following. Anyone else enjoy Greendale?

Make 1 neil young thread and be done with it, ok?!

I have Greendale, it's very good. Lots better than Prairie Wind. The story is basically senseless, listen to a live version where he rambles on about the story between songs and you can understand it much better. But still, his best album with Crazy Horse?! You need to go back and listen to Everybody Knows this is nowhere, or Rust Never Sleeps.

"best" and "favourite" are 2 different things. Off course EKTIN is greater. Greendale is my favourite, so much for an opinion. as he said in the liner notes "so dont feel bad if you feel a little out of it with this, no one really knows"

I'm pretty sure this is because of my age and the context in which i've recieved Neil Youngs albums, but greendale is by far my favorite, and right up there with my favorites of all time. The concept was fantastic, and although when I first learned of it I worried that it may threaten the lyrical and musical substance of the album, it was pulled of with remarkable grace.

The greendale tour was one of the most unique experiences ive ever had the pleasure of witnessing.

PS Matera, no problems here with the multi Neil Young threads go nuts, as long as it means your giving the McCartney threads a spell. :p

ah after all hes done and still doing people dont want to talk about him, he's not that bad y'know, although hes famous his musical ability will never be fully appreciated until he dies, lets say I appreciate it. Taking from the orange people movement, if you dont like it, tough t***ies :D

You learn something everyday, how about this, who would have thought???

Neil Young started his musical career as a teenager in a band, The Squires, which had a minor hit, "The Sultan." He then joined up with Rick James (yes, the Superfreak), in a band called the Mynah Birds. The Mynah Birds were signed to a record deal until it was learned that James had gone AWOL from the Navy. The band quickly disbanded.
