G'Day. I've been a fan of Aussie Rules since the early 80's. When I was a kid ESPN used to show VFL matches in the evenings. It was then that I attatched myself to my beloved Magpies. Unfortunately, ESPN stopped showing them and it wasn't until the late 90's with the internet and Fox Sports World, that I've been able to again watch the greatest game on Earth. Only recently discovered these boards and have been lurking for a bit. Felt it was time to come out and introduce myself. Cheers!

May i ask what made you barrack for Collingwood as i love Collingwood myself i'm interested only because you wouldn't have had any family influence i take it, GO THE PIES 05 :)

Crazy enough, I barrack for the pies due to a children's cartoon. When I was a kid ESPN would should VFL matches. It was always different teams every week, so you never saw A team very often. At the time, one of my favorite cartoons was Heckle and Jeckle. It's 2 main charecters were magpies. Because Collingwood were magpies I naturally picked them as my team. Now keep in mind I was no older than 7 or 8 at the time.

Yeah I've posted a couple of times on the NBA and NFL boards. To b e honest though, I prefer AFL to any other sport.

Surely there is enough people in the world that will hate you just by virtue of being a yank, without being a collingwood supporter as well!

Unfortunately, you don't get to chose where you're born. I am anything but an ignorant nationalistic yank. I am hoping to move to Australia upon college graduation.

Heckle and Jeckle would be a bit advanced for the average Collingwood supporter. Most of that humour would pass straight over their neanderthal skulls. If the AFL ever get a new team called the Flower Pot Men, Collingwood would probably lose half its supporter base.

Heckle and Jeckle where crows
I've got to disagree with you here HD...Heckle and Jeckle were indeed magpies.
According to a Terrytoons website, they first appeared in a 1946 short called "The Talking Magpies" and spent their time trying to outwit a not-too-bright bulldog named Dimwit. If it were based on Collingwood, Dimwit would have been a not-too-bright supporter I suppose!
