Oaks, I have accounts with all 3 totes.

Took 1 unit on unitab, and had 50c on both NSW and VIC.

As everyone on here uses VIC odds I put them up for accounting.

I have found over time with these smaller meetings I need to spread my bets across the tabs to limit the effect on dividends.

Over the long term it works out well.

I am not aware of any corporates that do them on the dogs, but I doubt I'd be welcome there too long anyway.

Ballarat Race 10

Not exactly the best of races this one.

#1 COCO HOKO POKO is strangely named and doesn't chase as strong as one would like. Is given best possible chance from this draw, as the outside box #2 is a slow starter. On the bunny has a hope. But once he drops back into the field, it's bye bye. Don't bet with confidence.

#2 FUN HOUSE has been lucky with the two wins recently. Field cramped up and got a dream run. Last start showed real racing style, got well back and didn't make enough inroads on the leading back who didn't encounter trouble this time out. But with the strongish finish, is likely to be amongst the placings. Likely favourite in this race too.

#3 KING RYAN was beaten by Leica Magpie at Geelong on a Monday meeting when favourite. Didn't really impress in the conlcuding stages of the race. It was also a week field and the only pinger in the race Leica Magpie did win. So perhaps it isn't a good guide for this race.

#4 SLIPAWAY MILLY no thanks. Only broke maiden status two starts ago. So doesn't have the experience or speed. Distance won't be a worry, so has to be a place chance.

#5 POWERFUL STORM has 52 starts. Only 2 wins. That says enough.

#6 MAXIMUS COOL is also a recent maiden winner. Won at Geelong last start in 26.23. Was an ok win. So give some respect.

#7 SLIPAWAY MO is the one that we like. 50% of the time is in the money and well, I think can cross the field and will be the one to catch.

#8 COBURN isn't a winner. 1 win from 40 starts. But has 12 placings. I don't think Coburn has what it takes to get close to this field though. If anything box 8 is going to make this race harder as wont cross and unlikely to make any gains on this lot.

Funny race this. Plenty of options in the exotic department. Unlikely to get attractive odds for WIN/PLACE if thats what your into.

The Meadows
Race 2 Grade 5 525m

#1 SIR KEVIN pinged the lids at Ballarat 550m last start and won in 32.28 after leading all the way. Time was sluggish and didn't seem to be chasing all that hard until the #1 and #2 closed in late in the race. The worry going on that all the way win, is that the field behind found huge trouble and #2 was able to close in several lengths in the run. The draw will suit, but it seems that SIR KEVIN needs the perfect race scenario to come through with the goods. We also need to realise that both race wins were in maiden company. Now steps up to Grade 5 company and is having first race start at the track.

Dam...Isis Eve is ranked 387 in the 2009 Leading Australian Dams with 65 starts for 12 winners and 20 placings. Trainer is ranked 608 with 34 starts for 8 winners and 9 placings. Not a bad S/R at all.

#2 BEST RESULT Last start got clobbered heavily when looking for the rail over Bendigo 430m in WET conditions. ALso had to wait a long time until the race (Race 10) and wouldn't be used to waiting in the race kennels for that long after having maiden races at Meadows. Can excuse that run at Bendigo. Charged to the rail over this track and distance on 27th June. Ran a slow 30.68 in maiden company when the best on the day broke 30. Was first race of the day though.

Is drawn closer to the rail today, so that will suit and you can do no wrong out in front. So Best Result should start favourite here.

Owned by Paul Felgate and trained by Tina Womann who is ranked #10 in the leading trainers of 2009 with 80 winners from 600 starters. Dam Same Result is ranked 435 for 2009 with 51 starters for 12 winners and 12 placings. MATCHING OUTCOME is from Same Result and is in the Tina Womann camp and has won over $30,000 in prize money.

#3 DALEY GRIND Found trouble from box 5 over this track and distance behind Best Result. It was definetely the squeeze box in that race. Did muster some mid-race pace and looked like running into second, but faded in the run. Last start was a winner at Shep over the 450m in a Friday day meeting. Didn't actually jump out of the boxes all that well. But quickly mustered up pace to cross and lead the field at the bend. Ran a solid time of 25.67, but once again didn't really finish off the race that strongly. Dam is unproven and trainer would be happy thus far with DALEY GRIND.

Best Result looks like he has the early speed over Daley Grind and on that basis, it will be hard for Daley Grind to hunt him down.

#4 CHO CHANGE Was quite a strong run last time out at Horsham when won from box 6 in a handy 27.42. Didn't begin the best and was caught out wide for a little while. Then on the home turn ran slightly wide again, but still motored on home to score a win by a length.

It seems that if she doesn't begin that well, there is plenty of time to recover mid race which is where she does her strongest racing from.

Trainer Vassalo is ranked 19th in Australia with 282 starters for 54 winners and 80 placings. Dam Pacific Style is ranked 210 with 87 starters for 17 wins and 18 placings.

Box 4 is a worry, but with plenty of early pace on her inside, she might be able to get a nice sit on the rails!

#5 TOM ALLEN Will be having his 4th start in 11 days. That is pretty hectic as has raced on 1st July, 4th July, 8th July and now today the 11th July. Last start at Warrnambool from box 3 wasn't that strong. The winner ran 25.53, but TOM ALLEN was never in the hunt. Looked to want the rails too and did fade in the finish. Second last start was over this track and distance and finished 3.75l behind in second. Was checked a few times when trying to squeeze up on the rail. Did begin from out-wide and found himself in a perfect position, but just didn't get the run on the rails. Time was slow.

#6 FIRM HANDSHAKE Has experience over these runners with 43 starts, almost double the amount of starts of anyone else. Only scored his second win of his career last start, but it was a good solid run at Cranbourne from box 8. Won in 30.85, but also raced a tad wide into the first bend. Based on last start performance may have a chance of an upset. Although the S/R is a worry with only 2 wins from 43 starts. Dam is ranked 448 with 94 starters for 11 winners and 22 placings.

#7 PREMIER BABE To me is the one to beat here. Raced wide and was slow out of the boxes last start over this trip when second to MEEKA BALE. Ran a time of 30.53 which is something that these other runners haven't been able to do, despite pinging the lids and racing on the rail. Previous to that raced in much stronger company with Majestic Oasis at Shep on 22nd June and finished sixth. But in March scored a great 30.16 win at THe Meadows 515m, which is a strong guide to this race. Since then has only raced three times, so this race looks suitable to return to the winners list. Has 17 starts for 2 wins and 7 minors, making her one to watch. Not only that, but trainer is of quality and dam Ikari Babe has a 22% S/R this year with 66 starters for 15 winners and 14 placings. Ranked 278.

One to beat in my book as will get the perfect sit behind the pingers. If crosses to the rail, unhampered watch out!

#8 QUESTA BALE Found plenty of trouble last start when racing from this draw as had no chance of crossing the field at the bend and was forced well wide. Showed some form of promise mid-race. Raced against TOM ALLEN last start, and was quite slow out of the boxes on that occasssion too, but got a good rails run and if had the chance to squeeze though would have finished second. But lacks a bit of push and shove which is a concern, especially from this draw.

Am confident that Premier Babe can run down the fast beginner Best Result in the final few stages, have Cho Change for second as think that she can come hard too. Query is Best Result running out of the ground and going 30.20. If that is the case, Best Result will win. So when your having exotics, also place Best Result for the WIN in a few.

Forget, #8 QUESTA BALE. Forget #5 TOM ALLEN. If anything, 1,6 are F4 prospects. But not willing to place them higher than 3rd.
