Griff:
How consistantly bad does one guy have to play before he gets dropped? He's done nothing all season and hasn't shown any trace of comming into the kind of form we know he's capable of. He had 1 good run down the ground today then sprayed the kick. Give him a week or 3 in the Bees. We need someone on the ground that can put in a bit of effort, instead of being carried by the rest of the team.

Aker:
I was ready to drop Aker into the Bees as well but his last quarter today showed a little bit of form and class. It might have been enough to keep him in the side. I hope it's the turn around we've all been waiting for.

Is it time for Eade to put some acid on Aker over the next few weeks in the media. My memory from Brisbane was when the acid was put on him, he always talked the talk back and then walked the walk on the field. Perhaps he needs some fire in his belly to re-kindle things. That or the chance to break the hearts of collingwood supporters again.

Yeh Griffo has been down on last year, but i cant understand the knockers ,he is still having a real go and i think calls for him to be dropped are pretty harsh and i think he is still providing great run for us and is always a player the opposition are weary of.
He would be missed if he was dropped

While Griff has been disappointing, I would be dropping Wight and Addison before Griff. Both struggled in the heat of the last quarter. Maybe time for Faulkner to have a run for Addison and perhaps Williams for Wight. Thought Aker came good in the last 1/4.

Addison struggled? I thought he played very well, managed to get his hands on it a few times in a game when we were being killed at the stoppages. Eade certainly thought so, putting him in eth middle when the game was to be won.

Wight can play CHB & ruck. Williams, at this stage, can do neither at AFL level. Is clearly going to need another pre-season before he becomes a regular fixture in the side. Wight is one of the more important players in the team due to the flexibility he offers.

We say we need talls, yet are going to be so quick to cut those that are making a go fo their opportunities? Strange.

Whisper around the South Adelaide crowd the other week is that Griff is missing home a bit...did sign a contract recently however?

I posted this recently...

This is a rough aproximation all all teams supporters:

ADELADE - Believe it's the 'God Given Right' for ALL South Australian footballers to play for the Crows.
BRISBANE - Still basking in the glory of the 3peat.
CARLTON - Stlll don't believe cheating & rorting is wrong.
COLLINGWOOD - Can't think for themselves, have to wait for Eddie's instructions.
ESSENDON - No other teams supporters have such an overinflated opinion of their teams worth.
FREMANTLE - Still living in 'Big Brothers' shadow.
GEELONG - Have the ability to get ahead of themselves very quickly.
HAWTHORN - Supercilious & haughtily contemptuous of all others, from the Prez down.
MELBOURNE - So few 'real' supporters.
KANGAROOS - The few that remain should be admired for their ability to endure.
PORT ADELAIDE - Have massive chips on their shoulders.
RICHMOND - No one does it better, when it comes to turning on their own.
ST.KILDA - Have turned rabid feralisation into an artform.
SYDNEY - Theartre Goers, still don't understand about the passion required.
WEST COAST - So what if we **** up off the field, we ****ing won it!
WESTERN BULLDOGS - Eternal optimists, perinnial masochists.

GRIFF:
People are only getting on his back because we expect more from him because of all the hype from last year.
But Griff has actally been contributing and i think hes in the best 22.

AKER:
His last quarter saved him from REAL critisizm this week. HIs last 30 mins gave us a sneak peak of hopefully what we will see more of Aker this year.
I hope Rocket has a bit of ago at him through the media though.. something small though along the lines of.. "Aker is a great player of the game but just hasnt showed it consistently yet and thats what will truly determine if he is on of the leagues superstars or not."
Should get him to walk the walk.

On anotehr note, Wight is very important and i think he stood up well.
Addison WILL NOT be dropped. Rocket played dylan right in the guts of the centre for almost half of the game and loves the kid.

Aker was in the paper last week, admitting that while he hasn't been performing at the standard that he himself knows he's capable of, his hammies have caused him a setback or two. He also stated that he's pretty much over them and nominated a timeframe over the next week or so that should see him back to what we all know he can do. In his words, "no excuses" if he has a poor game after he's fully fit and able to turn it on. You don't achieve what he has in football without knowing the fine tuning of your body. He was great in that last quarter today... I have a very good feeling about Aker. As for Griff, he was OK today. Definately in our best 22. He's down on last year at this early stage, but he ain't no passenger!

Agreed. Addison hasn't put a foot wrong all year, yet people seem to gloss over his efforts and call for him to be moved out of the side quickly. Certainly won't be dropped based on his game today, won a few important contests, stopped some goals at important moments, and always throws his body on the line. Going to be a great player.

No way will Griffen be dropped, or Akermanis. Aker's last Qtr was the best he's played in Dogs colours, and Griffen will be back to his best in a few weeks. Geez, some people... :)

Griff needs a haircut to show that he is serious.
Not as silly as it sounds. Loose the shaggy mane and get really roll up the sleeves for a big weekend. It might focus the lad.

Griff is much like Aker: no point playing in the 2's but not technically playing well enough to be in the seniors. They'll click eventually, but it's a little frustrating waiting for it.

Aker is a match winner, he's a surprise ace that we didn't have last year and who knows when the card will be drawn out. Hopefully its drawn this week against Collingwood - a side he loves to beat and have the crowd jeer him with boos - if im correct in one of the grand finals he did the handstand towards the collingwood cheer squad after he did it at the lions end, + he ran around with a "game over joffa" banner as well so there is a little history between aker and the team in black and white

Griffen is doing okay, possibly carrying an injury of some sort but obviously its not enough to keep him out of the game. He'll get better as the season goes on.

Wouldn't drop Wight. He needs to learn to handle the pressure and the only way to do that is to be part of it. No point dropping him now, then he works his way back into the team later in the year and, on form, gets a game in the finals, only for it to be close and he doesn't know how to handle the pressure.

With a few new additions to the team like Addison, Wight, Harbrow, Higgins... you need to give them some slack in how they play under the pump. Some are born for it, some need to learn it. In the end though, the reason we're in good shape is we have guys like Aker and Johno who can step up when the game needs winning, and teach the young guys how it's done. That's our main strength over teams like the Hawks. Their youngsters will have to learn it themselves, where as we have a great core of experienced players in Johno, Aker, West, Grant, Darcy, Monty etc who can teach the young kids a LOT.

It wasn't just the last quarter. Earlier in the game Aker spotted two long, penetrating, inch perfect passes and I thought: this bloke is ready to play.
