Usually some players like to change Guernsey numbers, And i thought i'd create this thread to see what Players MAY change guernsey numbers or what players you'd like to see get a certain number.
We have guernseys 9, 30, 34 & 42 free so far.
If Raphael Clarke retires, Delisted or traded i HOPE Tom Simpkin can don the #8 guernsey.

9 hasn't been worn since Fraser Gehrig i hope Rhys Stanley or Beau Wilkes can get this guernsey, If not i'd like Terry Milera to.

Keep Simpkin in 31. I don't want him being a total Maxy clone. Let him build his own reputation in his own number.

As for the rest:

8 - Khaaaaaaan!
9 - T.Lee
18 - J.Caddy
30 - M.Brown
34 - A.Cockie/Cook/Duscher/VFL mid
35 - J.Stringer
42 - H.Shepheard/Symonds/Ruckman

Make it happen Pelican!

I'd change Brown to 9 and Caddy to 18 but other than that, :thumbsu:.

Dont see the fascination of players changing numbers, rookies when they get promoted i understand but not anyone else. Its just a stupid number on back!

I quite like the history attached to a number, and there must be something about having a locker with legends of the game on it.

Yeah, Im pretty much in line with this. I just wish more kids would hold onto their high number and try to make a name in it.

#35 has to be retired forever, noone and I do mean noone deserves to have that champs number on their back......

Originally I liked the idea of giving Lee #9 but if Ray is leaving I could see him getting #22 as well.

I thought: "Well why not upgrade Dunnell to 22 and have Lee in 38, next to his partner in crime Beau Wilkes?"

Then I thought: "It's really not Lee and Wilkes though, more like Lee and Stanley so should Lee get #27 if Blake goes?"

Then I thought again: "If Clarke leaves and Blake stays why not keep Lee in #9 and bump Stanley up to #8? Dunell can make 38 his own or move to #9 or #22 if we don't get either of the Brown boys."

THEN I finally thought: "If we do get Hickey and one of the Brown's then Blakey will probably retire and leave #27 free again..... **** this!"

Assuming we get the deals done and the rumored players do leave (Clarke, Ray, Blake) and we pick up everyone that has been rumored (Hickey, Stevens/Jacobs, M.Brown from either the Cats or Eagles) I settled on this -

Hickey in #8 - I think that, in time, the club see our forward line as Stanley at CHF, Lee at FF and Hickey in a pocket as the third tall and backup ruckman. The #8 hasn't had a great run in the last 5 years or so and it would be good to put it on a kid that is in the long term plans for the starting lineup.

Wilkes to #9 - Now I admit that this is a little indulgent but I would love to see Beau pull a mini G-Train and beat some people up on the way to a few 45-50 goal seasons while filling the gap between Kosi/Roo and Stanley/Lee. Not going to happen in reality but it would be fun.

Dunell to #22 - Deserves an upgrade. Maybe to #9 instead but I felt this fit. Reminds me a little of Ray too to be honest. Maybe not as hard at it but is probably a touch classier.

Lee in #27 - If we don't upgrade Stanley to give these guys #8 and #9 then this will do just fine. I like the idea of guys who need to form a working relationship having lockers together to promote that feeling off field too. It's one of the reasons all the NFL players in the same position have simliar numbers. Having Lee and Stanley next to each other in the locker room would help them get to know each other and hopefully make working together that much easier.

M.Brown in #30 - See above but swap Lee and Stanley for Brown and Simpkin.

Stevens/Jacobs in #34 - Haven't shown enough to earn a number like #9 or #18. Could get #22 if Dunell stays in #38 or gets promoted to #9. First available high number otherwise.

We then have #18, #35 etc. to fill with draftees. Hopefully we could get one of Jake Stringer or Nick Graham into the #18 or #35.

My thoughts on what guernseys, Hickey, Lee & TDL will wear.
#8: Trent Dennis-Lane, Will Raph looking likely to be delisted i think TDL may nominate to get #8 which is what he had a Sydney.

#9: Tommy Lee, No one has had this since my favourite G-Train! I think give it to Tommy Lee!!

#18: Tom Hickey, I reckon #18 Would suit Hickey!!

Guys like Armo, Dempster and Gwilt were offered new numbers I think...but choose to keep their own.

I like that...make that number your own.

Number 9 is Crocker. And I think we'll be picking him back up, he's the only delisted person on the Saints site that is still there. Peake/Polo et al have been removed, but Crocker still has his number 9.

Agree with either Hickey or TDL with 8. I see more promise in Hickey, so I'd 8 him up.

So who gets number 1? Just some new recruit? Hickey or Lee? Upgrade?
