All else being equal. Did the ladder predictor and on current form, 'home advantage' and ladder positions we'd need a lot of luck if we don't win 12. I can't see us beating the Handbaggers this week because they only have 2 best 18 missing, so we'll need to win the rest and if we can't you could write us off as a premiership threat anyway. Unlike most of the opposition (for a spot) we have a LOT of improvement in us and if the guys are motivated we'll get through.

Of course, I also did the predictor before the weekend and it wasn't that unlikely we could get in with 10 wins but not any more. Having said all that upsets are common but there'll be some pretty hot favourites over the next 5 weeks.

BTW, here's what everyone's best mate Barrett has to say...

"Greatest". That's some pretty good motivation.

Actually excited about playing without Dusty.
Against popular opinion but I’ve felt we have been playing a man down in the centre clearances with him in there the last few weeks.
Don’t get me wrong he is irreplaceable but in there he has been a liability, he just hasn’t been right for mine.
Get the meatball back and Shedda and we will be hard to beat.
Trade off is we can’t win a flag without the great man but I think we can make finals.

7 - West Coast v St Kilda, Collingwood, Melbourne, Fremantle, Brisbane
8 - Essendon v GWS, Sydney, WB, GCS, Collingwood
9 - Richmond v Geelong, Fremantle, North, GWS, Hawthorn
10 - Fremantle v Sydney, Richmond, Brisbane, West Coast, St Kilda
11 - St Kilda v WCE, Carlton, Sydney, Geelong, Fremantle
12 - GWS v Sydney, Essendon, Port, Geelong, Richmond, Carlton

Richmond start favourites in 4 games
West Coast, Essendon start favourites in 3 games
St Kilda start favourites in 2 games
Fremantle, GWS start favourites in 0 games

Well our best pressure game for the year was against the Dogs and Dusty didn't play. But.....

There would have to be some concern that the Brisbane win was more about getting up for Jacks 300th than anything else. The players seemed way more invested than recent weeks. We are also right on the injury bubble now, any more senior players get injured for the rest of the season and we are back to kids who can't run out games. Either way we will find out this week, Id assume we will be up and about early against Geelong, if we aren't at very worst right in the game with 10 mins to go then I think are season will fall away quickly and can see us putting in a shocker against Freo to end it. If we can't compete with Geelong what's really the motivation for the players to push on hard to just sneak into finals. Id assume we will be quarantining for a week before Freo (like the saints are now).

I think we are in a bit of trouble. So if Essendon and West Coast win the 3 games they should, it would take West Coast beating Melbourne in Perth (after the Dees quarantine) and Essendon beating a Swans side who could hit the wall at any point like they did earlier in the season. Then we would have to win out to make it. I guess it wouldn't be unlucky if we win 4/5 and miss given the games we just lost. I think if we lose to Geelong we play a few more kids.

Don't agree , he actually wins clearances and gets the ball going forward. Please don't be one of those that takes the legends for granted mate

GWS is the key game for us imo. Win that and we should make it

I will never take Dusty for granted but I’ve hated watching him in the centre recently because it’s just not him and a disservice to what and who he actually is.
Not criticizing him at all but something just hasn’t been right with him, he’s not been shit because that’s just how good he is, but he must have been terribly frustrated having to cop shit trucks being able to expose him at times let alone just walk in his shadow.

Add to that it’s just exciting to put the team to the sword without him.
Will do them good regardless of results.

This year is a really weird one. I don't have any team as genuinely top end. If we start to get our mojo back and come home hard, then even without Dusty we can win finals - plural.

And yep, we should make finals is we continue to play like the last game.

Yeah, we’ll get in with 12 wins. A win this week v geesook and ill really start to believe we can do it.
Once we make the 8 we’re just as much of a chance as anyone in there.

Have to agree that we're in it no matter where we end up in the 8, if we get there. A couple of players back and some extra motivation and who knows... Some teams above us are playing as good as they can play - we're not.

On Dusty, if I'm reading AFL Tables right, we've only won 57% with him in the side which is about the same as our win percentage without him.

Friday night was probably our best game of the year so far. Before that it was the Bulldogs game I reckon, and we did that without Dusty.
We did have Bolton in Dusty-like form though.

Brisbane game was a tease - unfortunately we will drop this weekends game and can’t see us winning out from there - will miss finals IMO

Not criticizing him at all but something just hasn’t been right with him, he’s not been sh*t because that’s just how good he is, but he must have been terribly frustrated having to cop sh*t trucks being able to expose him at times let alone just walk in his shadow.
Gonna have to agree to disagree here, the stats would back he is still one of our top mids, and on Friday night in that third quarter he got it going our way, he is known for his centre clearances. He has not been in 100% form but still very good , no doubt the form of the team overall has also effected him a bit too
Imo will still be top 5 best and fairest up until this point too

I agree he would be, and he’s been far from terrible.
But he’s been lacking a bit of strength or explosive power and having to be “normal”.
But for the first time last week I noticed he was just almost going through the motions not by design but he looked fatigued.
Yep agree to disagree but I think having a long spell will do him and us great in the long run.

I keep on doing the ladder predictor and having us finish 7th.

Been a weird year and for once dan26 would be justified in placing it as the 86th worst premiership of all time.

Completely with you, Dusty has not been right, I read here and there rumours of foot problems but have no idea whether this is just speculation.
We definitely have the firepower and X factor on our list to win it without him. Who replaces him in the team? Can we go back in time and find the 2018 version of Caddy this weekend against the Cats?

He was superb in the third quarter , turned the game for us with Bolton so don't know what you mean there. Maybe the first half he was a bit quiet for his standards

That stat means very little. He’s missed 9 games for his career and never more than 2 in a season.

Losing a single game in 2010 when he was suspended means little in the context of things.

Without him we’ve gone:

2010: 0-1
2012: 1-1
2014: 1-0
2018: 0-1
2019: 2-0
2020: 0-1
2021: 1-0
