AFL.com has the following qoute regarding Guy McKenna.

"He was a member of West Coast’s 1992 and 1994 premiership teams – coached by Malthouse – and won the Eagles’ best and fairest in 1989, after finishing runner-up in his first season."

Can anyone remember if there was another player that finished runner-up in the B&F in his first season at WCE.

What are the general thoughts if this will ever be accomplished again? I personally think it is unlikely as it takes a special player to come into a side and establish himself that quickly.

I guess this just reminded me what an amazing player Guy was.

Juddster was third in his first season, and Kerr was second in his second season.

Can't think of any others that would come close to Guy though.

Peter Matera finished 3rd in 1991, which was his second season after playing around 5 games in 1990.

Kemp won it in 1992, his 3rd season and yeah ditto for Jako.

Woosh and Bluey both second year winners.

I don't think anyones going to be able to match Bluey's first year runner-up.
