Apologies for the ignorance, but does Bluey have an official role within your club? If not, what has he been up to?

Apparently the news in Perth are reporting that he has been interviewed for one of our vacant assistant coaches roles.

Regardless of what he's been up to, i'd love to have him at Geelong. He is a supremely intelligent man who was an utter champion on the field.

He would bring us the professionalism that was the mark of the Eagles during the 90's, which can only help us.

He isn't with us anymore, he was head coach of Claremont in the WAFL all year.

They were a pretty ordinary side last year, and while they improved this year, they were still not excellent. But he did a really good job with them in the one year he has been there and got them into the Top 4 and into the finals.


I don't think he would move for an assistant position, I think he wants to be a head coach in the AFL. I'd like to see him head coach at Geelong.

If I was Geelong I would look at Steve Malaxos (former Eagles captain) who has been an Assistant Coach with Sydney for several years. He worked as their Midfield Coach this season and did an outstanding job.

We have two positions available, one will be taken by Gary O'Donnell, and Choco Royal is favourite for the other.

Although Royal is looking at other offers, so we still might have a spot available.

Don't rule out Bluey McKenna at Geelong, given his former association with Brian Cook.
