Always thought they should have called the team Western Sydney, West Sydney or just Sydney Giants.

How about "the Giants" like the "Kangaroos" name for North Melbourne.

I think that would be a backwards step.

They're trying to win over Western Sydney. A vague name without a location doesn't show investment in the area.

The Kangaroos name change was also in an era when they were trying to relocate them. That's not a vibe we want around the Giants. They get that enough as it is.

GWS is simply not a place anyone identifies with. There would not be a single person west of Sydney who says that they live in ‘GWS’. You are either from western Sydney or the inner west.

I was impressed by these statistics, in previous years they've kinda hidden the detail which tells you there hadn't been much to crow about. The new ceo Varisdi seems much better than the previous one. Good signs all round and good info to use against the naysayers.
