As I dont have the luxury of Fox Footy, Ive absolutely hammered my video replays of the 2005 Mighty Adelaide Crow wins to give myself a fix.:thumbsu:

.........and with 64 days to go until Adelaide kick a ball in earnest against Collingwood in Round 1, I can highly recommend the Finals Showdown to pep up your wellbeing. Who could believe carnage could be so enjoyable?

Have you had your fix by watching this game in the off season:confused:

The younger ones amongst you might like to watch a copy of Showdown 1 where by the end of the game 16 fit men and a concussed seagull took down the team that were to win that year's GF. I sure wouldn't have liked to have walked around in Adelaide in a Cow's guernsey for the next week.

I haven't watched too much footy in the off-season. I have watched all the showdowns from last year and a games against Essendon and St. Kilda.

Other than that, I have mainly occupied myself with watching basketball. I am looking forward to footy though. Only a couple of weeks away from the game against Norwood and a week after that we are playing the scum...

Its so close, I can SMELL it :D

Absolutely. When feeling a bit down, out comes the semi-final tape and all is good in the world again.

Can't wait, only 4 weeks to go and it starts again.

i enjoy clean needles more than dirty ones

so hurry up footy

At least we have a good looking jumper, not that abortion that the Pork Power came out with.

Wish I had a copy of last year's semi-final on tape. If I did, I'm sure I would have watched it so much by now that the tape would be completely stuffed. :p

Memory might be a little hazy but i believe we played our "B" team that day

Seriously though on that particular Showdown day i was on the afternoon shift at the steelworks & i had to put up with my 3 Pap work mates giving me grief big time. :(

Well just on the Fox Footy replays & i don't know if Porthos still works there or if he does how much clout he wields but just about every time i turn it on all i usually get are the Port Power replays. :(

That 3rd quarter is probably my favorite of all time.

Have to say that I very much enjoy the round 9 saints game. I even watch that first quarter. :D

But the semi-final has some nice memories too ;)

"Some showdown, after half time port didn't even show up!"

Or their loud mouthed supporters, who was going to take on anybody.

The "I'll be back" just at half time comment is still ringing in my ears, perhaps they are still at the bar. :D

Pondering for just a moment on the wider topic of "first games", I came up with this list:

First AFL Game:
The Crows won their first ever AFL match. Port didn't. (Crows 1, Port 0).

First Showdown:
As Powerstuff points out, Port won Showdown 1. (Crows 1, Port 1).

First AFL final:
The Crows won their first ever AFL final. Port didn't. (Crows 2, Port 1).

First Showdown final:
The Crows won the first ever Showdown final. Port didn't. (Crows 3, Port 1).

First AFL Grand Final:
The Crows won their first ever AFL Grand Final. Port also. (Crows 4, Port 2). {Edited} - Port actually did win their first GF match. I got confused because of the two years running when Port failed to get into their first GF.

Ahhh, perspective. It is a wonderful thing. :D

I think you'll find the Power won their first AFL GF.

Yeah its pretty special.
I quite liked the first quarter even though we should have wrapped up the game by quarter time....coz we kicked pretty outhouse.

Which by the way certain posters on this board, you know who you are is why we need to kick straighter. Never mind the delivery into the fwd 50:rolleyes:

Getting back to the original topic...

I really enjoy watching the wins from the previous season, as apart from years gone by. This is, IMHO, because they show promising signs from up and coming 'new guns' that may impact next season. The Rutten's, Bock's, etc.

However, two games I remember vividly are the finals against Footscray. Especially the supporters crying in the last quarter for both games. The pain they must have felt! This is what football is all about, eg. the agony and the ecstasy. Some clubs have had it too easy (in the smaller league), need I mention who - eg. the dark side.

Though the best game I have ever been at is last seasons semi-final against the Hersey Highway (Choco's) boys. Who would have ever thought Port Suporters would leave the ground early!!!!

You know - this may just be the year of the CROW. ;)

We would've also accepted "Cadbury Canal gondoliers"
