"Thats just the way Haddin plays"

This statement increases my blood pressure significantly. Even cricinfo are making excuses for him now. If thats the way you play you should not be in the Australian cricket team. How the hell does he get a 6.5??

This. This this this. I do not understand the free ride Haddin has been getting in terms of his shot selection and lack of temperament/discipline. Both innings in J'Burg he got out playing ridiculous shots, and both innings in Hobart he got out playing stupid shots, especially when you consider he got dropped the ball before his dismissal in the second innings. All four of those innings we were in a potentially sticky situation and needed someone to play with some responsibility and guide us through. And yet, Haddin just throws his wicket away each time and no-one bats an eyelid.

If it was Khawaja who got out playing the four shots Haddin did in those innings, he'd be battered from pillar to post, and everyone would be banging on about how unacceptable it is. Hell, can you imagine if it was Warner who got out playing that way? He'd never be picked again. So why not hold Haddin accountable too? Absurd.

Brad Haddin isn't Ricky Ponting.

One will go down as our second best batsmen of all time; one will be forgotten a few months after he's dropped.

He was a decent stopgap, and deserved the spot when Gilly went, but he's rubbish now.

The last year or two, he's gotten worse, he CAN BAT, but he constantly plays like a ********.

It's not good enough.

Ricky Ponting isnt Ricky Ponting anymore, either. He's been the worst bat in our side the past 12 months and only averaged 33 over two years.

I completely agree that it's time for Haddin to move on but he hasnt even been our worse performed player over the past two years or so.

And maybe only injuries save ponting at present, because i'd have Warner Marsh Khawaja Clarke Watson Hussey (although he looks cooked of late) Cowen and probably Christian ahead of him at the least at present.
