I've always liked Braddles, as much as his glove work and batting can occasionally look very ordinary, he's a battler and brings some much needed experience to the middle order.

But, he's 36 and will be 37 when next summer starts, and although his glove work is still as good as it's ever been and he's still very capable with the stick, it's definitely time to talk replacements in the next 12-18 months.

So who is it? Do we go back to Wade, finally give the keys to Paine? or look younger.

For me the smokey is Travis Head

Hartley/Paine and then Whiteman

That Travis Head idea is bad. The kid's going to be a very good batsman for us without ruining him by making him keep

Notice I said 'the' smokey instead of my smokey, who knows what the powers that be will do. Having said that I think he's good enough to do it if we develop him that way.

Having also said that I'd go Whiteman, would be in the right age bracket and hopefully have stacked up runs by then

Don't know about the keeping abilities of either Head or Whiteman, but would prefer one of them over Wade when the time comes. Both seem good batsmen, neither seem to be able to score a ton though.

From memory the job was Paine's for the taking until he got injured just at the wrong time and Wade got the gig instead. Wade has remained ahead of Paine and most others ever since and looks like the guy who'll get the gig when Haddin's "2nd career" ends.

At present the job appears to be Haddin's for some time to come though.

Jimmy Pierson or Ben McDermott are young Queenslanders who should/could develop over the next few years. I think the prerequisite for keepers going forward will most likely be averaging 40 bare minimum and only an average keeper so a Haddin prototype. I hope we look to get the best keeper in the land so long as he averages at least 30. Any less and it becomes hard to pick them unless our top 6 is really really good.

Paine hasn't done anywhere near enough since his comeback to be in the frame, surely? Hasn't cracked that big ton or two that he needs to put himself ahead of Wade at least.

I think Hartley is criminally under-rated, given how many times he's come in at 4-fer-nothing and saved Queensland's backside over the years.

Why do they keep bringing Watto back then?
Are they really that bad? I think that's been exaggerated in the media. Most of the time, if you're mates with someone long enough, you'll have a spat over something with them. Whereas it's been acknowledged that Haddin's friendship with Clarke does contribute to Haddin's selection.

It's got to be Wade in current form, hopefully Whiteman or Ludeman can come on with the bay.

Keeping form or batting form?

He would want to have discovered which hand to put which glove on before he comes back into the side as a keeper. He may find a spot as a batsman but as present a keeper he isn't

I'm happy picking the best bat for the job, with the prerequisite that the guy is quality behind the wickets. That doesn't mean he has to be Bert Oldfield behind the pegs, but he has to be quality. I wouldn't deem Prior as quality enough as an example.

So narrow your selection universe down to those blokes who can keep and go from there.

I've like the cut of Nevill batting for a while now but haven't seen him keep enough to make a judgment - I would have thought he'd be right up there if he could keep
