I am only refering to the football field, and I believe we are on the same path, ie that it is the responsibilty of the AFL to change the approach rather than the players. I see it as pointless to have situations like this week, with the only losers being players such as Grant, who was put in a very ordinary situation. It just makes the AFL look unprofessional. Maybe thats what they still are.

I agree about distinguishing between each act and judging it on its merits and the result of each act. But in distinguishing each act, we only have precedents and guidelines to determine them. The AFL dont tolerate anything on the field, and as such I believe they should adress this issue, so it is fair for all.

I personally dont feel that strongly about it either, but it would be in the interests of the players, if the AFL changed their approach. My opinion is based on where the AFL is heading and I think this is one area they are behind on.

I personally like the old biffo, but thats long gone, just as this issue probably will be in the future.

On the scenario I put forward. I would be really pyssed off if the Swans were playing Collingwood in the GF next week, and Buckley or Tarrant, got off because of some cultural issue. It would disadvantage my team.

Thanks for your thoughts. :)

Not that it helped but Laide could have tipped on Rocca. Had the video been inconclusive Rocca would have played in the GF. The week before Hird could have tipped Laide (it was him wasn't it?) in. You might win and you might lose out of it. It didn't bother me that Hird played the incident down.

Grant must be suspended or fined for either over-acting or lying to the tribunal. He looked more like Jurgen Klinsman than an AFL player.

Shame, Grant, Shame. You have followed libba into dark side in your latter years.

BTW, where's MGREG QC ?

;)

You really must be running out of space on your mantle piece with all your "TOOL OF THE WEEK" awards.

Knees in the back or similar, cant really remember, but there was something with Lade and Hird.

Anyway with the AFL being all powerful and Captains not even allowed to talk to the umpires, surely they can or will adress this other stuff.

Dont think for a minute that I agree with all this pussy footing reporting. Some of my fondest memories in sport are of all-in brawls in GF or league tests aust v GB with the 1st scrum breaking out into a smashathon. I just believe the onus is on the AFL and once they tell the players, this is how it is now, then there wont be an issue.

Let's hope that he doesn't do anything stupid this week against his old team.
