There has been a lot of hype surrounding Hampson this preseason, with most of us having high hopes for him in the future. But who do you prefer in the ruck for 2008? Hampson or Aisake? As far as I can tell, from training reports etc, it seems that Aisake is a bit further ahead in his development at this stage, so for me, come round 1, Cloke would be my number 1 ruck, with Aisake on the bench (if he's over his injury). With Hampson pushing for selection later in the year. What are your thoughts and who is your starting ruck combination?

FWIW, i actually think our starting ruck combination chosen by the match committe will be Cloke and Ackland (if Ackland is fit and over his injury), but im hoping Aisake or Hampson will push Ackland aside very quickly

Both during the season, maybe not in the same game and then see who performs better early in the season, by the sounds of it there's not too much between them at the moment, so it will probably come down to who makes the most of their opportunity when they get it. I hope they both get a few games this year, will be better for us in the future. If you asked this question earlier i would of said Aisake, but now after SA i'm leaning towards Hampson, but i honestly don't know really have to see how they perform when given the chance. Finally we have some competition between some players now for spots in the 22, should be of great benefit to the club in the future...

Hampson has shown more in real games so he'd be ahead of Aisake i imagine.

yes, Hampson has shown more in real games. Of course Asaike has the disadvantage of not having played a real game....

Both, if things go to plan!

Hampson is gonna be a gun, has shown more than enough this pre season to suggest so, but he is restricted to the ruck.

Aisake is a freak! has all the attributes to be a 200+ ruck roving ruckman, but i would think he might settle into a KP like CHF or maybe down back with his brother.

The best thing is that we have Hampson, Aisake and Kreuzer on our list. Hopefully they can keep putting pressure on cloke and the likes for the ruck/kp spots. We will be very well serviced in the big man stocks for a long time if these three kids come along!

I suspect that going into the pre-season that the order was something like:
  1. Cloke
  2. Ackland
  3. Aisake
  4. Hampson
  5. Kreuzer
  6. Jacobs
After pre-season training I'd say its more like:
  1. Cloke
  2. Hampson
  3. Aisake
  4. Kreuzer
  5. Ackland
  6. Jacobs
Cain would want to put some serious runs on the board, as would Aisake for that matter.
I know it was only an exhibition game, but both Hampson and Kreuzer held their own against Sandilands, and would be pushing for rucks spots.
Assume Kreuzer will play forward as a "Westhoff" type.

I think Cloke is big enough and mature enough to play first ruck. he showed as much last year. Hampson will be more than adequate coming off the bench. Aisake by all accounts will be right in the mix, leaving Cain to prove himself in the 2's with Jacobs.

I heard something Ratten said a few weeks back which is why I think Ackland has a good chance of remaining in the starting 22 early on. I think we'll wanna give Hampson, Aisake, and Kreuzer all goes this year, but all of them will only have limited opportunities - we won't want to chuck one of them in there for the whole year, will be too hard on their young bodies imo. Who knows, maybe those 3 will all rotate in and out of the side and Ackland won't get a look :D But I don't think any of those 3 will have the physical strength to play more than 15 games for us this year. We'll wanna blood them slowly IMO. I think they only have 2 games of AFL experience between them lol

Hampson by a long way until Aisake even does something of note at senior level.

If Cloke can't stand up, I'd rather play Hampson,Kreuzer and Jacobs in the ruck than Aisake to give us two athletic rucks and a man mountain who can bullock and win the tap.

I'm over Aisake when we have Kreuzer and Hampson who are the real deal.

If Cloke gets injured they'll bring Ackland back in before you could blink.

Kreuzer won't do loads of rucking this year unless we have a REALLY bad run with injuries (i.e. Cloke, Hampson, Ackland and Aisake) as they will want to protect him.

Hampson looks ready - not to dominate, but Brogan did his best to push him around and he stood up.

Cloke and Hampson with Kreuzer as third option, mainly forward.......much like we saw on Saturday.
Aisake will need to do something impressive to break in, and Ackland will need to rely on some hunting accidents to get another senior game.

Hampson for mine, it will take Aisake a while to get back into the swing of things.

If Aisake matches Hampson for ability then things are looking extremely good for us.

Why not both. For mine Cloke is too small for the ruck. Would prefer to see him as a bullocking CHF putting himself in the right position and taking the heat for others to mop up.

Im really not sure why it has to be 1 or the other.

Before Rnd 20 last year Hammer was considered behind Aisake in development. Aisake was considered a huge chance to debut last year before he got injured while at that stage Hammer was considered a fair way off.

Hammer is now clearly No 1 with Cloke and Ackland undersized and a long way behind.

If Aisake has 3-4 very good games for the Bullies I would not be at all surprised to see him debut and partner Hammer.
If he shows he has the ability and fitness the club will look to get games into him sooner rather than later.

In terms of football Hampson is ahead of Aisake. He has a football brain and the footballing ability to back it up. He showed what he can do on a footy field on the week end and looks set for a big carer. :thumbsu:

Get off the stuff will ya! What is it with this board tonight!? It's like somebody just turned the light from dim to stupid. How is Aisake ahead in his development - he hasn't even played a senior game yet. Hampson has the scalps of White and Sandilands to his credit, kicks goals and looks like being anything.:rolleyes:
